FYI Hays County

#1

Post by stash »

I learned yesterday that on 5/10/12, at 7pm there is going to be a meeting at the VFW in Dripping Springs relating to having a range in Dripping. This is the second meeting (I was not aware of the first one) and this range idea is in the early development stages and they are looking for input. Don't know anything more about it at this point.

The VFW is located at RR12 and Highway 290.

Sure would be nice to have a range in Hays County

That's great news.

I was just talking to someone the other day about the possibility of a range in the area.

If you are going to get involved with this effort, be aware the NRA has great resources available to assist with proper design and management of shooting ranges.

No sir. That was the evening we were suppose to and did get heavy rain (2.5 in where I live). My problem is because of low water crossings when it rains real hard real quick, I cannot get to my house or away from my house. I am still trying to find out what went on at the meeting. I will post here when I find out for info.

I went.
I think there was at least 40 people there - there clearly is interest.

It was a short meeting, but several volunteers are going to put together a first draft of bylaws so that we can review/revise and use to form a new club. Once the paperwork is done (registering club name, setting up bank account, etc) they will start taking membership applications.

Meetings will be the 2nd thursday of every month at 7pm.

Once we have a club with members we can start working little things like finding a place to build a range.

I think it'll be a while before we are there. We have to have a club with bylaws & officers and a bank account before we can start looking at land.

Wonder if you can get some of that "Obama Money" to help with the cost to build it?

I'll post the web site link when I receive it.
There weren't that many people at tonight's meeting - possibly due to the late notice sent out. Next meeting will be July 12th.

Initial draft of bylaws is almost done.

Hi,

I'm a new shooter living in Hays County. I would like information on the potentially new range in Dripping Springs. I really hope this comes to fruition.
