We were heading back home today and as we passed Red's South Austin location there was a fire truck and an ambulance out front, & four police cars pulled in. Looked like the manager was waiting at the door. Just curious...

Apparently an attempted suicide http://www.kvue.com/news/local/police-i ... /174252077

This is more common than you might think at gun ranges.

Yep, on an FFL only forum this topic seems to come up regularly. It is up to the individual what they do with their life but why affect so many others in doing something like this?

Red is a nice guy. Sorry that happened at his facility.

Decades back Red allowed me to bring in some Boy Scouts at no charge to work on their Firearms Merit Badges.

Hope the victim makes it through and gets the help he or she needs.

My wife was just there last night with a Women's shooting group. Not normally the one we go to (we live north). Very sad.

Gun rental. Cheaper, faster and easier (especially if you are prohibited from purchasing) than buying a gun and doing it some other place.

This is why many ranges restrict rentals in various circumstances. The range I joined in San Diego wouldn't rent to someone off the street by themselves unless they had a gun of rheir own, or had become a member, etc.
