Rest in Peace, Stephen Camp
Read these Topics and you will understand what an asset Stephen Camp was to all of us.
Stephen passed May 27 at the age of 59 from a massive stroke.
We have lost a great friend.
Stephen lived all his life as a Texan. After college he joined the Denton Police Department where he worked for twenty-five years. He wrote the training manual for the department's tactical unit in 1986. He was a tactical team leader and certified police firearms instructor for 11 years. As a firearms instructor, he worked to improve training programs and increase firearm proficiency for all officers within the department.
He retired at the rank of sergeant and was certified by the state as a police instructor. He also held a master police officer's certification from the State of Texas. He had been a Concealed Handgun Instructor since the law went into effect in 1995.
Stephen was resolute in his support of private firearm ownership. He served on the board of directors for the Texas State Rifle Association and was a life member of the NRA.
After retiring, he authored several technical books on handguns. And he was a frequent contributor to Texas CHL Forum.
God Bless you, Mr. Camp.

You were a man of many talents and a great asset to the shooting community. Your legacy will live on in the knowledge and love of firearms you passed on to us. May you rest in peace, and we'll see you on the shooting range when we get there!!

This is very sad news indeed. I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Camp on occasion and he was a gentleman indeed. I'm very sorry to hear about this and thank you for letting us know.

I always appreciated that a nationally known gun writer would take the time to answer personal correspondance, answering questions about specific guns and ammo.

It is now up to others to take up his sword (and pen) and carry the work forward.

+1. Unfortunately I never met him personally, but corresponded with him several times, and he was always pleasant, helpful, and knowledgeable.

I also note that Stephen was a chaplain who had a deep and abiding faith in God and Jesus Christ. He knew his King. His life was a testament to his faith and and example of the life well-lived, and I am confident that his faith has been rewarded in full.

This news is really hard to take.
I have two Highpowers basically on account of Steven and a forum we used to frequent, fnhighpower.com. Now, I will think of him every time I touch a Browning Highpower.
May his memory be a blessing.
