Two men had a disagreement outside of Kroger's. Both men were armed. One man in serious condition and the other man in Police custody. Reported by Fox 4 Dallas at 9:00PM.

They said the person that did the shooting stayed at the scene. There was some kind of argument. Be interested in hearing all of the details.

I live right by there, my wife and kids were there after the shooting took place. They asked me what would I do in this kind of situation and I gave them the best possible advice I could. It is unfortunate that someone had to lose their life over a ding in their car.

Based upon the updated news story the shooter has "licensed handgun" which I take to mean he has LTC.

Best advice I could give from this story is "It is not safe during an argument to pretend you are reaching for a gun." Followed by "If someone you are having an argument with appears to reach for a gun, you should ensure they actually have a gun before you pull your trigger."

 My son and DIL used to live in some apartments about 2 blocks from there, off of Central just below Harwood.

If I am not mistaken the man who died did have firearm.

It would be a tough situation. I guess you would hope you have a way to drive off immediately.

It seems that verbal altercations mostly end bad. If at all possible be the better man and walk away.

My FIL and MIL are a few blocks away from there. They shop at that Kroger all the time. So does my wife and myself. Unfortunately that is the "nicer" Kroger in our area and the only place my wife can find good deals on meat (we have 4 boys, 5 if you want to include me). Guess I'll add Kroger to the many places she is not allowed to go to without me.

As to the firearm, it is of course impossible to know from just reading a news story, but the Fox 4 article said "Police determined he did not actually have a gun."

Tough call to make after an argument. Prayers for everyone involved.

I'll never understand someone getting so riled up over a little bent sheet metal. Isn't that why we have insurance? I accidentally had my door hit a parked car in a grocery store parking lot, real windy day, and the door was pulled from my hand. the owner was loading groceries on the other side, I told him about the dent, we exchanged insurance info. (not necessary on his part) I reported it to my insurance company and they repaired the damage. No muss no fuss. No one got mad, no one got shot.

It's just sad that people attach so much emotion, to their vehicles. I just wish others could learn from this, before they jump out ready to fight over nothing. Now, no matter the legal ramifications, on whether charges will be filed, someone is dead, and someone else has to live with the knowledge that they took a life. JMHO

But apparently he claimed to have a gun - "Both men stated they had guns and exchanged threats." Not the brightest move to make, ever.

It's tough to make a definitive call based on a news report, but if I accidently ding someone's door, then they threaten me and follow me back to my car, after telling me they have a gun, I am going to believe them, and I am also going to do whatever I need to do to ensure that I go home to my wife and kids. First choice would be to leave, but if he appears to be reaching for his claimed gun, that may not be an option, unfortunately.

Now, I am also going to do everything in my power to defuse the situation before it gets to that point, by being very apologetic, and reassuring the guy that I (or my insurance company) will pay for any damages. It sounds like that did not happen in this case.
