Injury count seems to be up to 15...

So I guess all these Campus Carry bills that are hung up in various committees like: HB706, 972, 1077, 1078, 1298, 1313, 2381 and maybe 2535 (volunteer services by CHL)...There could be more, and those parking lot bills are kinda related so I included them on my list that I could gleen from the summaries I read on them...

I guess there MUST be a valid reason these bills are being delayed for, at the very least, a straight up vote on the floor...

I'm sure the Austin phone lines are on overload, which they need to be...At this point I see no reason not to exert full pressure on them to stop passing the buck again...If this doesn't get done, it'll be the third session it has been introduced??? If I recall correctly???

I would hate to have to see this wait another two years...That would be really pathetic...

Okay, I am all for the comments and usually would be making them as well.

However, if anyone down there hears of the names of the victims, would you please PM me. My youngest daughter is goin to school there and I have not been able to reache her since this happened. Many thanks would be appreciated

Will keep an eye out and add a prayer that your daughter is not one of the injured.

This last sentence is priceless..............anyway to play a recording of this at future campus carry hearings?

I do not know about that. Even in UK or Australia where all firearms are banned, still knives are gangbangers' weapon of choice.
And...sadly enough, there is talk of banning knives, or at least certain types of knives in the UK due to knives being used in violent attacks. The doctors in the article below calling for bans say there is no reason for someone to have a "pointy" knife.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/4581871.stm

Also, their knife laws regarding possession in public and / or carry are pretty restrictive:
It is illegal to:

sell a knife of any kind (including cutlery and kitchen knives) to anyone under 18
carry a knife in public without good reason - unless it’s a knife with a folding blade 3 inches long (7.62 cm) or less, eg a Swiss Army knife
carry, buy or sell any type of banned knife (the list of banned knives is below)
use any knife in a threatening way (even a legal knife, such as a Swiss Army knife)
Lock knives (knives with blades that can be locked when unfolded) are not folding knives, and are illegal to carry in public.

The maximum penalty for an adult carrying a knife is 4 years in prison and a fine of £5,000.

Good reasons for carrying a knife
Examples of good reasons to carry a knife in public can include:

taking knives you use at work to and from work
you’re taking knives to a gallery or museum to be exhibited
the knife is going to be used for theatre, film, televison, historical reenactment or religious purposes (eg the kirpan some Sikhs carry)
A court will decide if you’ve got a good reason to carry a knife if you’re charged with carrying it illegally.

Mr. Brown, I heard a while ago that the officials are asking ALL students to contact their families as soon as possible...

First reports are the knife used is a scalpel.
I think the college lobby is going to be too strong to get this passed.

I thought X-Acto's were designed for military use. How did a criminal get their hands on it? Something needs to be done!!!!

My liberal friends will praise 1. Campus gun free zones. See it worked, a knife, not a gun was used. 2. Since a gun was not involved, no one died (yet) so parents will not suffer like those at Sandy Hook. Everyone will recover and the world will be happy again.

In their eyes this confirms the need for an assault weapons ban and firearms limited to a single bolt action rifle with no automatic ammunition feeding device, safely kept in locked storage at the local police station, subject to yearly permits, qualification testing and training, MCE, and insurance, or just allow muskets, like is written in the Bill of Rights.

I went to Lincoln Tech years and years ago and was shocked by the amount of "students" that had been in jail and rehab centers, those places aren't schools, they ARE the rehab centers and most of the ex-jailbirds are there for free, I had to pay for my education but that's understandable since I'm not a criminal.
