then maybe it looks like its more of an issue with the bill content than the actual amendments? If so does than mean there is still a chance of the campus carry amendment to remain attached, or does the POO prevent that? Forgive me but im new to to this political speak :confused5

This. If the economy stays in the crapper, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Republican majority in the House stay this big or expand in 2012. Hopefully if that happens we could get a Speaker who is better than ambivalent at best to gun rights.

If the balance of the Senate shifted some too, 2013 could be a good year for campus carry. Of course it would happen the year I'm planning on graduating.

There's no way Aycock doesn't lose his A rating for his attempt to remove campus carry in committee.

Am I the only one thinking that Senator Wentworth is stupid? He never should have allowed the campus carry amendment, which passed the Senate, to be removed from SB 5. He should have recognized that germaneness would be challenged on SB 1581 once SB 5 was removed. I'm now thinking that the GOP rhetoric about supporting campus carry is just that - rhetoric. They have no real interest in the issue. They're simply trying to placate us without making any real changes.

Right now legislators things it's perfectly fine for them to carry anywhere they want, but the common people can't be trusted to be responsible. It's a sad day for Texas, but perhaps it's better that the crippled version of campus carry that was in SB 1581 be killed so that we can get true campus carry for all Texans, no matter what type of university they attend. We clearly have a lot of work to do to get people to understand why carry matters, why self defense matters and why logic should rule the day rather than childish emotions.

It's now clear that I will never be able to carry at work before I retire.

Best way to force a new speaker would be to make sure Straus doesn't get another term in the House. Anyone know if the Bexar County Tea Party is up to backing someone for a primary challenge?

SB 5 passed with added amendments the Senate must approve else conference committee

SB 1581 busted for concealed carry and returned to Senate, but the fiscal matters in it can go in SB 1811, Villarreal says 1581 won't matter

There's more than a few pretty upset Republican Representatives on the floor

HB 1811 Postponed until 2pm Friday.

And we should care because???

If the Republicans have a supermajority and can't even get campus carry to a vote, then what good are they? We might as well have a supermajority of Democrats. I've spent the past few weeks closely following what goes on in our legislature. I'm done. What little respect I had (if any) for our system of government has been destroyed by watching the treacherous way these scumbags do business. Until we change the rules so that the legislatures become the people's house, nothing we want to see happen will ever happen unless it's politically advantageous to the scumbags in the legislature.

Time to vote them out. Remember the real culprits are one or two Democratic Senators who lied and turned their yes votes to no votes. Hopefully, I can help rectify one of those situations.

I will try to see if he SA Tea Party has someone in mind to replace Straus.

It seems several bill were passed with two or more subjects. It doesn't make sense :headscratch

I though you could suspend the two subject rule with a supermajority vote. Did we not have votes?

It just goes to show that sadly emotion and fear mongering trumps logic and evidence :confused5
