Debate/Delay primary problems seem over finance/budget not over #campuscarry

Next Tuesday is final day to get them passed.

lots of discussion about tabling subject to call, versus postponing etc

Leg website says 8AM 5/19/11.

"rlol" yes May 19th ... but if other things are calendared on postponed business calendar, he postponed it for May 11 ... so it's first in line (before the other postponed items which they didn't get to yet) on Postponed business calendar :smilelol5:

It is possible to offer amendments on third reading in the House, but it requires a two-thirds vote. I am not sure campus-carry has that much support (I hope it does).

More and more it looks like they shouldn't have taken campus safety out of SB5 until SB1581 passed both houses and went to Perry.
I believe the basic political division in this country is not between liberals and conservatives but between those who believe that they should have a say in the personal lives of strangers and those who do not.

I agree. I cannot figure out the reason why they did that. Based on what I heard today, it doesn't look good for SB 1581. I suppose if there is a special session, Gov Perry could broaden the scope to include campus-carry (and I don't think the two-thirds rule in the Senate applies during a special session).

@RepJoeDeshotel Joe Deshotel
@TexasGrizzlette Turner has what appears to be a solid POO on the issue. #txlege
1581 will have "Point of Order"

if it's a 1 subject "poo", then 100 votes or so suspends that rule ... lotta republicans in that room :)

RepJoeDeshotel Joe Deshotel
Yes the Point on 1581 is on the two subject rule because of the gun bill being added in Sen.

So if we need to suspend the 2 issue/topic rule, we need the same number 2/3 votes anyway ...

Vital to call/fax .... Joe Deshotel says Woods "convinced" him ...
