Ashamedly, I'd have to choose "Who?" on the poll.

I e-mail legislators/Senators/Representatives a lot, and I search/try to keep up on certain issues, but names escape me.

It's genetic, my dad used to say ...

and me.

But, I'm more famous, because I can almost always remember my own name, well, ................. almost always"

imo, Straus effectively killed or blocked legislation for both parties in, and nearly all interests in 2009. His space needs to be painted "Vacant".

I just find it hard to support a republican who carried support of Democrats 6 to 1 over republicans. From what I read, he made sure to repay those Dems who got him in the speaker seat. Well I am looking for good conservative leadership and I don't see how someone who carried so much Dem support could be what i am looking for. If any has some insight that I may not have please educate me!

He's not who I would choose not by a long shot. All the same its all but a done deal a deal, he will lead a very Republican Legislature and there should be no need for compromise , this time the Dems can walk all the way to Illinois and No one will notice them. I'm hoping they just stay home as it is they are not much more than than road bumps in the house for the legislative process. Those districts that vote for Democrats might really regret voting for a powerless Rep who will have next to no influence. I'ms sorta hoping they take my Rep Craig Eiland and just sit him in a corner after the stunt he pulled last session with locking up a lot of good legislation.

The Cradick supporters really blew it this time and lost a lot of support with their antisemitic sounding rhetoric, they could have taken it back with some good leadership. But once they started the claims that their men were real Christians (Stauss is Jewish) the discussions started to go in directions that could only get ugly.

Here are several thoughtful front page articles with comments on who Joe Straus is and what he is about.

My new Texas Legislator Bill Zedler has endorsed Bill Paxton as the new Speaker of the House! I hope that we can get rid of the RINO Joe Straus and move on to getting things passed that will help all Texans this session. Bill also supports the Voter ID bill which I hope will finally pass this session as well.

Personally I want Debbie Riddle, but its not gonna happen. Cradick minions like Paxton and Chissom don't stand a chance either. Strauss might be a slimey opportunist but he's what we are gonna be stuck with.. We can fight among ourselves and divide the party, so we accomplish nothing. or we can decide to get along and provide a united front against the real enemy the Leftist Democrats. We have a real opportunity here. I just hope we don't blow it by dividing the party. Chissum is opportunist leftist Democrat and Paxton is looking out for himself at the expense of the Republicans. Niether of the three stooges is worthy, but splitting the party will do more damage than what any one of them will do in actual leadership.

Not sure how you consider Paxton a Craddick minion. Joe Struas is beholden to the Minority party or hadn't you noticed that 65 Democrats elected him? That is who I want serving as speaker of the house, someone who was elected by the minority party.

Stauss will owe them nothing this session.
That was Last year. Paxton is a one of those Democrats who discovered it would be more convienient to be a Republican. This whole thing really is about Cradick Loyalist vs Cradick treachery.

I feel dirty even talking abut these 3 wrestling pigs. None of the 3 aren't in it for the cause, they are in it for themselves. The more this fight goes on the less we will get done this session, the dirtier it get gets the more they look like Democrats and the more likely we are to lose Reps in 2013. Strauss has the votes so any infighting only benefits the leftist.

I disagree! Straus has already showed his colors. Fool me once shame on you, Fool me twice shame on me! Straus may or may not have the votes, but the fact remains he is way to liberal to be holding the Speaker of the House seat. The Voter ID bill will be introduced again and we all know that Straus does not support it.

I guess you missed the part about Straus threatening to redraw districts so that those who don't support him would be removed. Sorry not interested in seeing this man lead this session. I hope he gets removed. You may not agree with the infighting but sometimes those things are necessary in order to stand behind the conservative principles the people of Texas have said they want.

I don't know where you are getting your information from, but Paxton ran and was elected in 2002 as a Republican and is considered a hard line conservative. He is supported by the NRA, TSRA and former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee.

I got to watch Straus on TV last year, as I was in Austin for business. Sorry, was not impressed.

:tiphat:
Yes, I watched some of the ridiculous chubbing from my desk at work. I'm not sure where, but I think it's posted on the http://www.capitol.state.tx.us/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; website when it's in session.

EDIT: Found them:

You are right it was Chisum that was the once Democrat, not Paxton. Sorry about that. I lump the two of them together when I shouldn't.
I guess my point is though is that if either Chisum or Paxton thought this was about idealistic purity one would have resigned ands supported the the other. Neither one would back down so now it is about splitting the party 3 ways. The math doesn't make any sense and neither Paxton and Chisum have the numbers. The fight is now over and they need to get over it for the sake of the party and the legislative session. Maybe next time if they want to put up a challenge they can do so with more unity.

This isn't going to be Legislative session with a leftist agenda, no matter who is in charge. Voter ID will happen even if Straus is Speaker. Straus' redistricting threats sound a lot like Delay's and Cradick's type of heavy handness, I expect that protoges Paxton & Chisum would be just as capable .. This is Texas politics after all .. Winner take all and all that. Do you think Paxton would treat Straus this way if he took charge? All three of them have done more damage to the Republican party than Bill White. They need to just take it to an open vote to the house and vote and be done with it. If they spend all their timer bickering about it and fighting over this we won't get anything done.
Our agenda is at the low end of the priorities. The Budgets and Redistricting come first. Would be a shame if career moves take priority over campus carry and parking lot bills..
