HB145 - Firearms Freedom Act

I contacted Rep. Laubenberg's office regarding HB's 681 and 750. She indicated that she would absolutely support those bills but also mentioned HB145 and asks for our support. The Firearms Freedom Act is similar to legislation passed in other states which says that any firearm, firearms accessories, and ammo made and retained in Texas is not part of the interstate commerce and hence not subject to federal law or regulation.

Let's get on board with this one as well and contact our reps!

I'm all for it, as well as house bill 181 which exempts firearms & ammo from state sales tax.

Not that I'm complaining or anything, but is the legislature doing anything OTHER than gun bills this session? :leaving

Aside from the state budget, what else is important? :evil2:

I'm pleased to see there is a whole Select Committee on State Sovereignty in the House. In addition to the Firearms Freedom Act, they have been referred a whole mess of bills, mainly dealing with the mess that is ObamaCare. I'm pleased to see there are bills calling for the passage of the Repeal Amendment, which would repeal any act of Congress if 2/3rds of the states voted against it.

It only exempts firearms and ammo for a specific time, not permanently. Same as the limited tax exemption for clothing and footware.

Sec.A151.344.AAHANDGUNS, RIFLES, SHOTGUNS, AND AMMUNITION.
The sale of a handgun, a rifle, a shotgun, or ammunition for a
handgun, rifle, or shotgun is exempted from the taxes imposed by
this chapter if the sale takes place during the period described by
Section 151.326(a)(2).

Section 151.326(a)(2)
(2) the sale takes place during a period beginning at 12:01 a.m. on the third Friday in August and ending at 12 midnight on the following Sunday

I guess I am confused.

How will this benefit Gun Owners and Pro-2A folks?

Another question... are there any Firearm Manufacturer's in Texas?

The Firearms Freedom Act is similar to legislation passed in other states which says that any firearm, firearms accessories, and ammo made and retained in Texas is not part of the interstate commerce and hence not subject to federal law or regulation.
So, Texas Manufactured firearms (like LaRue) would be exempt from Federal Law & Regulation such as 4473's?? :headscratch If that's true, Texas should provide incentives to all Firearms Manufacturers to move here.

Texas should provide incentives to all Firearms Manufacturers to move here.
Calico started in California and had to relocate their factory, change States 3 times due to States changing laws. They should have come here first, those 50 and 100 round pistols and carbines are just plain fun at the range. They were about to make them in .40 S&W, but Brady may run them outta bidness if they limit capacity because they only come in 2 sizes, 50 or 100 round in both 9mm or .22 cal

The incentive is : Bring your factory to Texas, we don't try to run companies out of business, we'd rather have employed people, sales and a healthy economy. We want you to profit, so we have common goals.
