I would like to buy a 1911 in about the 400 to 600 price range. It does not need to be beautiful just do its job. I also have a taurus pt145 i would be willing to trade as part of payment.

http://s933.photobucket.com/albums/ad17 ... spt145pro/ here is the taurus pt 145 pro. It's got a little holster wear, but what daily carry doesn't.

Just throwing this out there...Rock Island Armory makes a good quality 1911 in that price range.

IMHO, the most bang for the buck (pun intended) just may be the Taurus PT 1911. Mine eats everything and keeps on clicking.

I am with OldGringo. I own a PT1911 and have had zero issues with it. The one thing that might be a downer for you is that Taurus's 1911 only comes in a 5" barrel. My supertuck deluxe and I are still working on the right place after 2 days of having my supertuck for the sweet spot.:

I suppose you are looking for a 45 caliber, but I have a Colt 1911 in 38 Super caliber that is WW II vintage that I might let go of.

I bought two of mine from Tomball Pawn. Very competitive prices and not far from you.

I have had good luck with my kimbers so good choice. I would definitely replace the plastic msh with a metal one. They are cheap and easy to do. I don't trust that plastic with that much pressure on it.
