FS in Houston: RIA 1911 compact
I recently made a new gun purchase, so some of the old stuff has to go to keep the finances balanced. I'm selling a Rock Island Armory Compact 1911. I've been the sole owner (about 700-800 rds down the pipe), and have carried it more than shot it. This gun has been nothing but 100% reliable out of the box, which I hear is hard to find in a short barrelled 1911. The only failures I've had have been ammo related (cheap monarch stuff). Its got a few mods to it, which have only improved a good thing:
- Wilcon Combat trigger
- Cylinder and Slide trigger pull kit (hammer, sear, disconnect, and sear spring)
- Ed Brown single sided thumb safety
- slim grip bushings and slim grips (one of which is scratched from my college ring, unfortunately).
- polished and tuned up by Arnel the 1911 wizard at Armscor (I just had this done for the heck of it, not because of any failures, but it made a world of difference in the smoothness of the slide.)
- changed out the GI sights with millet front and rear sights
The gun functions flawlessly and shoots better than I do. It has been carried more than shot (and even then, not carried much), so it has some minor finish wear on the front of the slide and also on the right side of the front strap (again from the college ring).
Here's a photobucket page with pics.

At this time I'm only looking for a FTF sale in the Houston area (no trades) and am looking for $500. It'll come with the pistol, original grips, novak mag that it came with, case, lock, fired casing, and all original papers. SOLD

I'd be interested in another 1911, but would have to wait until my refund hit my bank account.

Sure you can! But it usually involves people screaming at the bank, police sirens, and interviews with the FBI... not at all an unstressed, pleasant means of employment.StrykerDM wrote:Sorry, much as I like XDs, I have an XD9 already (and you can't pay the bills with one)

StrykerDM,
For that size of 1911, how many rounds fit in the magazine? Too bad about having to sell it. I just had to sell my Kimber Tactical Custom II for the same reason.

I sure wish I had a job to substantiate the purchase of a nice 1911 like that. Sure would make a great carry piece. Pastor, everytime you have good guns up, I miss out :)

Now that's funny right there Preacher. Now, if the Lord allows me to add to my collection with pieces such as yours (since your tastes far exceed my own) then we'll talk :)carlson1 wrote:Next time I will send you a PM first.sneedb82 wrote:I sure wish I had a job to substantiate the purchase of a nice 1911 like that.
