I have seen a Colt defender at the Academy is Richmond/Rosenberg. I think they wanted $899 for it. I noticed it b/c its not the usual type of gun you see on their shelf.

Kimber Ultra CDP pre-Series II (no FPS).
The good:
Trigger job by Ken Crawley; sear and disconnect replaced with bar stock parts.
Four-pound trigger pull.
Original ambi safety replaced with a Cylinder & Slide single-side safety.
Total round count less than 100 since brand new (1997-ish manufacture).
The bad:
Night sights are about 13 years old and are effectvely dead.
The reality:
This is twice the gun that Kimber is selling these days for $1319 MSRP or about $1100 retail.
$900 or reasonable offer.

FPS refers to the firing pin safety plunger found in Kimber Series II pistols. It's purpose is to provide additional assurance that the gun will not fire from inertia imparted to the firing pin during a muzzle down drop from a height.J Wilson wrote:.Kimber Ultra CDP pre-Series II (no FPS).

In the Colt system, this would be a "series 70" gun instead of a "series 80."

orionengnr, that's a good price on that Kimber. I paid about the same for an Ultra CDP pre-series II in November and it's a gem, 'tho it has more wear than what you describe. If I did not have one already, I would be doing some business on this.
