Shoulder holster or ankle holster?

I'm trying to figure out if I should get a shoulder holster or an ankle holster for when I need to wear a suit or tux, etc. I have a CrossBreed SuperTuck right now, which is perfect for everyday use, but it’s fairly obvious that there's something there when I take my jacket off. I have a Kimber Ultra Carry II. I'm still fairly new to the concealed carry world so any help or suggestions are very much appreciated.

What about the option of having your tailor give you a little extra room so it conceals well with your standard carry holster?

...and I bet it wouldn't be any more $ than a new holster!

I guess that's an option...I never thought of that

I recall reading that in one of Massad Ayoob's book so I'll take no credit for being a forward thinker! :tiphat:

Another solution is a looser shirt bloused out a bit around the waist over a tucked holster. It'd cover a 5" 1911, let alone an Ultra Carry. Using J or C clips instead of the metal ones that are standard with the SuperTuck makes the rig disappear to all but the most alert among us.

A shoulder holster is really gonna be obvious
Letting the pants out sounds like a good idea.Have you thought about a smaller gun for occasions when you know you will have to take your coat off?

Unless it is under the shirt.

Many places, like Men's Warehouse, will do free alterations on a suit you bought from them. Of course, that's usually if you've lost or gained weight and maybe not to create space for carrying a gun. lol

I'm also a little wary of the ankle holster for when I sit down.

I've never worn a suit. I don't have plastic yet. But the wife and I were at academy and I was drawn to the holster isle. I found a shoulder holster that was on clearance and bought it. I wear it in the house with my xd and a button up shirt and you can't tell I have it on. I may wear it when I cc, it fits so tight against my body. Just my .02

What brand? Where does the muzzle point while you have it on?

Uncle mikes. And the muzzle points back. I am a little " wider" and that helps to hide the gun in a horizontal position. I'm waiting on a $200 rig from black hills leather and I'm not sure that this $15 shoulder holster won't fit my needs. We'll see

On second thought, it could be a federal holsterworks, in the yellow package. I find it very comfortable, even with no counterweight and it has the belt loop that holds it very tight

shoulder holster,
if I wanted to shoot some one behind me then I would go for the shoulder holster.
in a closed fight,is this a good way to draw ? or are you able to?
when you are running,what happens?
