My son's birthday is in early December...#12 for him. Time to get him his first gun. Anyone got one or know a trusted dealer in N.Tex or E.Tex. Prices and pics would be great.

Good choice for a rifle. Just for fun I looked it up on the Academy website - price is $350!

seen them on the shelf at just about every big box store lately. Unless you are looking for a very specific configuration (color, SS/Blued, flash hider, etc) you can probably find one pretty fast. Check Cabela's, Academy, etc. Even several of the local small stores have had 'em on the shelf.

They have them at the Sports Authority at 183 and Belt Line, but they are priced a little higher than Academy.

We ended up getting the regular synthetic 10-22 with a Simmons scope and mounts for $279 at Gander. He is happy, happy, happy!

I followed LT's advice and went with Sandra. I am also very happy. Mine has a flash suppressor on it.

The boy got to take his new 10-22 Synthetic to the range today and he had a blast. Dad got it sighted in within about 4 shots with the help of an uncle and his bore sight laser. By the time we left, he was hitting most of his 6in steel rings standing up!

Definitely merits an, "Atta boy!' all the way around...
