Charles, for those who are getting tired of the process, can you say that our calls and emails made a difference?

It absolutely does make a difference. I'm convinced that, without a push from citizens, this bill would not have received a hearing.

For those of us who are novices at following the Texas Legislature, what comes after the hearing?
Does it go up for a vote? Or does it have to go through Calendars to be put up for a vote?

And I will add that when I spoke with Springers assistant he was very happy to hear the support so it is definately nice to see this moving forward for him

It "can"go up for vote afterward, but this is where the other pro-gun bills that are stuck in committee are- waiting for a vote that may never come. Then after the committee vote, if it's favorable, it goes to calendars, where it may or may not be brought to the house floor to be voted on.

Does it help if we actually go to the hearing and what time is it?

For those willing to take a day off work and drive to Austin, do you have any advice on how the process works. Can I testify? Do you know where I can find the correct process?

In past years, most bills were voted on as soon as the public testimony ended, unless there was some reason to delay the vote. This usually involved bills that needed to be amended.
For the last two sessions at least, the standard practice in the House is for committees to leave bills pending on the day of the hearing and vote on them the next week. If a bill isn't voted within two weeks of the hearing, the bill has a problem.
