Open Carry Rig
This will be my Open Carry Rig when it passes in Texas:

It's a 2 & 1/2" belt that you wear over (or outside) your regular belt.
I am saving my pennies now as this bad boy is pretty expensive. Hand Tooled and Real Silver buckles.
It's so expensive that they don't even have it priced in their Catalog! You have to call for price!

It is a Custom Made Rig.......
You can get pretty much whatever you want (including modifications to the displayed Holster).
I too would require trigger coverage, however, I can do without the retention capabilities.
And yes, it is the ULTIMATE BBQ Rig!

If open carry were to become legal, then some of the holster houses would have to double the labor force.
Some of us would have to have rigs from El Paso Leather & Saddlery for everyday, Bianchi dressup rigs, Kramer, KD, Galco, etc. etc.
Have to add at least two new holster drawers at just my house.

I heard that! I'd need several holsters in black, tan, cordovan, etc. just to match my dress belts & shoes!lrb111 wrote:If open carry were to become legal, then some of the holster houses would have to double the labor force.

I think that's a little harsh, IMHO. It all depends upon the individual and his normal mode of dress. My father, rest his soul, was almost never seen without a Stetson and cowboy boots; he almost always wore a string tie, white dress shirt, and some sort of sport jacket or coat, even in the summer heat (dunno how he did that without being reduced to a puddle of sweat, but that's a different issue). Sans the matter of trigger coverage and retention, yeah, this rig would have looked like it belonged on him.CleverNickname wrote:That's a great holster for playing cowboy dress-up, but leaves a lot to be desired for actually carrying a firearm in public.
Me, I don't own a real Texan cowboy hat--though I probably should, just for seven generations of Texas family history. I'm a lot heavier than my father, and about an inch shorter. This rig wouldn't be for me.
But to each his own. Some people who dress like my father might be posers; but some aren't, and are absolutely the real deal. And I hope Texas never loses them. Just like some of the under-35 crowd have a bunch of "body art" and wear black leather...some are trying to pose as something they really aren't, and some are being truly genuine.
If open-carry became legal and Harley Davidson decided to make a holster rig in black and chrome, it wouldn't be for me. But I could acknowledge it would be a perfect fit for somebody else.

When is the last time you saw any person open carrying a handgun without retention?
I was lookin at that. Your sale is tempting. My current issue is that I want to snatch up all the kewl guns I see. The problem is that I will wind up with one of everything. And then multiple holsters, mags, blah blah blah...
I am still probably going to put my Kimber up for sale, and use the proceeds to have a custom gun built on a caspian frame which will be my permenant 1911.
I also love my Glock 17. I think I want to add a Glock 21 to the collection too for my primary carry piece. I was thinkin about the .45 G.A.P, but quite frankly, I wanna stay standard. I would get rid of the G17 if I didn't just put $110 of work into it...
