Theis Holster

Hey guys, wanted to give a heads up on a great deal. I have been looking for a crossbreed style holster, but wasn't willing to dish $75 and then wait six months to receive it. A buddy of mine pointed me to theisholsters.com, and I gotta say, so far I'm super impressed. I emailed him about his product, and he informed me that he had some blemished leather he would use and make me a horsehide holster for $45, shipped. By the way, he replied to me with an email and phone call within 15 minutes of contacting him, built the holster the next day, and had it shipped on the 3rd day. The quality is super nice, it's comfortable, concealable, and worth every penny.

Just wanted to give y'all another option!! Oh, this was for a gen 4 G26.

I've seen a bunch of positive comments on these holsters as well and just ordered one myself. Like others have experienced, I emailed with a couple questions one a few nights ago and by the next morning, i had a response.

I ordered a horsehide IWB for a G19 on Tuesday 5/31 and I received an email last night 6/2, that the holster would be shipping this morning. I ran across these holsters via google, which sent me to a forum where people had positive comments. Apparently there was no website a couple years ago and orders wre done over phone and with email. Tommy does have a website so you can check it out at: http://theisholsters.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.

The horsehide was $60.

I had read several threads on other forums about the high level of service and responsivness of Tommy Theis. I have not experienced this for myself and felt I should share. As i mentioned in an earlier post, I had emails with a question and had a response by the next morning. Well, i place my order for a horesehide holster for my G19 on 6/2. The holster was delivered to me today 6/6. That was great.

I am very impressed with the fit of the kydex and the hardware attaching it to the leather. It looks very similar to the CB. There is a very dense rubber (I think), washer between the clips and the leather, creating a gap for tuck, without bending the metal back and forth.

I did however, find one part of the design that made me a little uncofortable. While the kydex completely covered the entire trigger guard, from the back of the holster, enough leathe was cut away that some of the trigger guard was exposed. More than make me confortable. The back of the trigger of my G19 in a hot pistol was right at or just below the leather. I was a little unsure how I felt about that. I wrote Tommy an email and within about 30 minutes, i had a response. He told me he wanted me to be completely satisfied and would make me a new holster and, cut to my liking and get it in the mail right away. I could send back the one I have when I get the new one. The gap may not have bothered others, i just felt a little uncomfortable with it but with that taken care of, I love it.

I could not ask for better, faster service. I"m impressed. I've attached a few pics.

Tommy makes great holsters at great prices. I know that he is a member over on Glocktalk but not sure what other boards he is on. His quality and customer service is second to none!

I got the replacement holster today so again, right at a week. Very quick to get a custom made one. I'm very happy with service, price and product. Now i need to break it in and figure out exactly where i want it to ride and if i want to adjust the clips up or down.

For anyone looking for a CB / MTAC style holster, i'd say to be sure to check these out first. very quick and great price.

These holsters really are great, he actually makes them right out of his own home, as you order them, he includes shipping in the cost, and they really do ride fantastic. He's out of Conway Arkansas but gets them out really quick. Free bump so he can get more business !

FYI - He now has belts in his product line. Mine is on order. Will let you know what I think when I get it. So far it looks to be priced fairly.

That looks familiar, like what I have, but new...

I am still extremely happy with the holster and it has been my EDC since I got it. I appreciate the "combat cut" at no additional charge, I have a standard CB for a G19 I need to cut down. Tommy was easy to deal with but shipping time was longer than what was stated here previously, about 3-4 weeks. I was not in a hurry when I ordered it and allow vendors all the time they need so when Tommy told me the lead time it was no big deal, I am happy he is busy.

I ordered it with the plastic clips (shown in the photo in the other thread) but have since gone to the metal clips. I figured the plastic would be easier on my belt but after using them a couple weeks I found they have sharp edges that were scratching. The metal clips are high quality and all edges are well rounded so the belt is fine with them. I recommend the metal clips.

The squeak factor was pretty high at first, I got it nice and broke in to minimize the squeaks then I changed to the metal clips and I had to change the hole I attached them to, which re initiated the break in squeak factor. After a couple of weeks of constant wear with the metal clips in the different holes it is getting quiet again.

As jerry_r60 mentioned, there is a very small amount of space between the back of the holster and the trigger guard area. On my Kahr K9, it is about 1/4" open space. Since there is nothing between that and me except a tee shirt and the trigger itself is not exposed I don't see it as a problem, and the ability to grasp the whole grip (combat cut) negates any negative. I do find lint on the back of my trigger after being worn all day, but nothing a quick swipe with a rag can't fix. I would post a photo of the gap in mine, but can't find my camera.

I wear mine on the around 3:00 to 4:00 on the belt and usually under an untucked polo style shirt. It is a bit of compromise on where since it is most comfortable 4:00, but prints less at 3:00, so depending on what I am planning to do determines where I wear it. I typically don't care if someone sees the outline of the grip under my shirt, I can ignore questions or looks in public places, but if I plan to go somewhere I don't want to be made, I keep it at 3:00 and it's fine. I have worn it with a tucked in shirt and it worked fine, but untucked polo style shirts work better for me.

I can and do wear the holster all day, everyday. Even at work I wear the holster with the gun in a lock box in the car and then put the gun in the holster when I get off work due to company policy forbidding firearms (it says nothing about empty holsters.) I believe I was made once at Walmart, had a basket full of skeet targets waiting at the checkout line, the guy behind me struck up a conversation about clay shooting while we waited and once it was my turn to check out I noticed him looking at my waist while I was bent over getting a box out of the basket, but he didn't say anything other than "have a good shoot". Whatever, I have a lump, maybe it was an insulin pump. :nono:

I have a Crossbreed for my G19, I had one for a Kahr P40 I traded for my G19, and have nothing but good things to say about Crossbreed. I do prefer the Theis holster for the facts that the combat cut is no additional charge, it is overall less expensive, and it doesn't have the crosses on the clips. I am a Christian man, but I feel the crosses drawn attention to where you don't want it, so plain metal clips win in my opinion.

Found my camera, and my calipers. There is a .300" space when the gun is inserted in the holster. Still not a big deal in my opinion. Here is what it looks like.

Sorry for the fuzzy photo, but do check out my nice new wood grips.
