Where In Houston To Buy IWB Holster?

#1

Post by Kawabuggy »

I just got my plastic and now that I can carry legally, I'd like to go and look at holsters. Can anyone recommend a place in Houston where I can handle, and try on various holsters? I know that I can order anything on-line, but I'd really like to avoid buying something sight unseen and then not liking it when it gets here.

In case it matters, I will be carrying various guns at various times (attire specific). Walther PPK, Full Size Para Ordnance 1911, and then my "throw-a-way" a S&W Sigma. I realize this may call for possibly 3 different holsters, and I'm okay with that. But where to go to look in Houston?

Collector's Firearms has a good selection of Comptac and Galco products. Not sure if they will let you try them on, but I don't think they'd have an issue with it. Fountain Firearms used to have a goodly supply of holsters, but I haven't been there in a year or so. Good people at Fountain, IMO.

Some of the Carter's Country stores have a limited selection of Blackhawk, Comptac, and other random brand holsters. Not sure how they would be about allowing you to try it on, though. You might also want to try a police supply shop, like Pro Defense in Webster. I've never been there and don't know what they carry, but my experiences with police supply shops elsewhere have been very good.

You are welcome, of course. May your search be fruitful and your drawer of useless holsters always be empty!
