full size version ? Im plannning for the first time to carry outside the belt using my Springfield Armory 5 inch 1911. I see Don Hume has this model and looks good wtih slight canting. THe price is also affordably good. Wonder any here has one and any comments , thanks. Also Im planning to get a single mag carrier for the extra rounds. Don Hume has it too.

I have one for my Glock 22 and really like it. It rides high and tight. The leather is thin and firm. I wasn't sure if it would hold up, but I've worn it for a year now and it's like new. Just got a second one for the Glock 27, no more IWB for me.

You guys ar learning right along.
I have not worn that exact holster. I do like it & would not hesitate at all to put my 1911 in one. Good choice.

Don Hume makes a quality holster, and they aren't expensive. I've purchased four, with the latest being a JIT slide holster. I got more than I paid for with this one. The 721 OT looks to be a great one as well. May try one of those later on myself.

The 721 OT is my all time favorite holster. I have one for both 1911 and M&P pistols once you get the holster set to your shape it seems to go away. Easy access snug hold great price. I like the Don Hume JIT (the best holster value on the market) and the First Agent a minimal OWB style. The 721 OT is my favorite! (didn't I just say that?)

A great holster at a great price.

Trying to find a holster may be one of the biggest drive me nuts things I've ever done.

I after going back and forth between don hume, dmbullard and high noon finally settled on dmbullard with don hume a close second only because they dont have a tuckable iwb for my m&p 9c or bersa .380.

No I see this post and I'm thinking maybe the 721 and J.i.t slide is the way to go.

dmbullard is a 30 working day lead time and I can get the don hume a lot quicker and save a few dollars.

Went ahead and ordered a Don Hume 721 ot for my M&P 9c and a JIT slide for my bersa .380. Everything was in stock. Want to start carrying and DMBullard is atleast 6-7 weeks out. I do plan on ordering a DMBullard IWB for my Bersa.

I got my 721 (for my 1911) on Friday, and I like it much better than the Fobus I was using. I ran my belt through the rear slot, through a belt loop, and out the front slot in order to keep it from shifting around on me. I'm using a 1.5-inch belt that's about 1/8 or 3/16-inches thick. The holster does a good job of bringing the pistol in real snug, but...

0) At this point the 1911 is too heavy for effective concealed carry.

1) Even after running my belt through a belt loop under the holster for extra support, It still wants to sag quite a bit.

2) Tightening my belt one more hole makes it uncomfortably tight.

3) I need a longer belt. I wear a 36-inch, and I think I'm going to have to get a 38.

4) I'm going to look at getting a smaller pistol. I also have a XD40, but fully loaded, it's really not that much lighter than a 1911. The problem is I need a pistol that has a full size grip because the sub-compacts are to short for me to handle comfortably. Since the XD40 SC comes with a grip extender for the magazines, I'll probably end up with on of those.

5) I wish open carry was legal. Then none of this would matter as much.

At this point the 1911 is too heavy for effective concealed carry.

Yeah I can see this being an issue.

Look at the m&p compact line. they have a mag extender that allows you to get all 4 fingers on the grip. about 22 oz with full clip. full size is 25oz. they are solid firearms.

Should have my holsters by Friday. Will post comments on how well it carry's after field testing it.

XD was #1 on my list till I found the m&p 9c.The XD is a little bigger especially in the thickness. I have a XDM but it will not be for conceal carry.

Received my holsters.

Have to admit the guns fit perfectly and they are great quality for the price and there was plenty of choices for a lefty.

If your on a budget and looking for quick delivery and your looking for something to last Don Hume is the way to go.

I eventually want a DM BUllard or something along the high end line but this is good for now.

Besides spend a lot of money for something you have to keep hidden?

I have Don Hume J.I.T. and First Agent holsters for my 1911's and my XD's. I want one for my Sig p-230 and another for my S&W 638 snubbie.

BTW, I like the holsters and their price... a lot.

9mm ammo is too hard to get, but .40 is plentiful here. I would consider one of the Taurus Slimlines, but they don't make a .40 in that format. There is the PT975 though. Fewer rounds, but more concealable, and I already have ammo for it (.45 ACP).
