I'm thinking about an ankle holster for a ruger SP101. Does anyone have experience with any of these:

I have the Bianchi Model 4750 – Ranger™ Triad™ Ankle Holster.

I carried a SP-101 in it for a few times and also a Detective Special. It works well and pulls the butt of the gun in close to the leg. It is adjustable for comfort and has a nice large pad that works with it to make it more comfortable.

just make sure you're not wearing shorts

Ankle holsters are for guys who can bend down and touch their feet. I have only a vague memory of being able to do that.

i was reading an article about the benefits of ankle holsters .

basically it was saying that most of the time you are sitting.
(which according to the article is the preferred method of drawing your weapon from an ankle holster)

you are usually sitting while :

driving
dining out
at the movies
waiting in a drive through
at your desk
ect.

I've considered an ankle holster for my G27 before, but keep coming to the conclusion that every time I sat down it would no longer be concealed. I keep thinking that in order for my pant leg to keep the weapon concealed they would have to be longer than they are and then they wouldn't look right when I was standing.

Anyone that wears an ankle holster that has any comments would be welcome.

I wore an ankle holster for a few months. I thought I'd try it out with my G26. It wasnt uncomfortable, but it did move around some when I walked. I felt it caused me to walk a bit "limpy". It also seemed it would be dificult to easily draw, even when sitting-- Bell bottom's are out I guess its not a bad idea for a BUG though.

I decided to try a CompTac IWB model. So far so good with that.

+1 on Galco. I'm on my 2nd for my J frame

From what I HEARD about ankle holsters.....dont run!

I don't have first hand experience with them but would like it to be extra option if viable.

its OK , i stopped doing that years ago .

but seriously , if i did ankle carry , i think it would be a very small/light gun such as the LCP in a good snug holster .

I wear a Galco Ankle Glove filled with a Glock 26 almost every day......I have never had a problem with it. I can get to the gun pretty quick standing or sitting. Ankle is really the only choice I have when wearing scrubs.
