Carry belt, help?

#1

Post by Sewer_Ice »

Plan on getting a Don Hume 715 IWB to carry my xd45 compact, only thing is now I'm trying to find a belt.

I've been doing research on belts, aparently it's very important to have a good belt when CC'ing, Kydex re-inforced appears the be the way to go.

Issue: Google sucks when it comes to searching kydex reinforced belt. I'm looking to spend no more than 40 for my belt, thus far I have found ONE for that price and I'd like to see what styles I have options of.

Issue # 2: I'm seeing varying thickness of belts, what size should I be looking at for a Don Hume?

Issue #3: Belts measurments vary, and 32-36 doesn't necessarily mean 36 or 32 fits. I have a 34in (and shrinking) waist so I need something that fits 32-36in waist.

From what I've read a lot of people have been through A LOT of belts, so I figured I'd be able to save my self some time and money by using your wisdom and experience.

As far as measurements go, it varies according to the manufacturer. Most of the places I looked at had specific instructions on their websites telling you how to measure and pick a size. Some want you to measure with your holster and gun on, some don't. Comp-tac asks you to add 2" to the measured size for a proper fit. You really need to look at what they suggest. If it isn't on the website, maybe give them a call.

I would go with a 1.5" width unless you specifically need a smaller size to fit in your belt loops.

I ended up getting a kydex reinforced belt (Comp-tac contour). Whether or not you actually need it is going to depend on the belt and your body type. If you've got more belly than butt it will help keep one side of your pants from drooping down, but it can also jab your hipbones uncomfortably until it gets broken in.

Lol, I being that I'm a "larger" individual, I got 2 of "my size" on closeout at LA Police Gear for $7.99 each. I am hoping the day comes soon that they no longer fit properly and I will need to get a smaller "regularly priced" belt.

You and me both!

Both are buckskin, so I dropped one off at the saddle shop to be dyed black. That one belt will wind up costing me about $25 ($7.99 + shipping + $16 to turn it black), but the average for the two belts will still be under $15 apiece with shipping and tax.

And I used to have a 28" waist before I got married, now it's a 36. Don't worry, you too will grow up someday.

I also have a 1.5", kydex-lined, leather belt from Comp-Tac. I've been using it with my XD-45 carry setup for the last 3 years, and have been very pleased. Comp-Tac sells quality merchandise and provides great customer service!

Morons at combat tactical sent me this:
We have received your payment and your order has been processed.
We are sorry to say that we sold the last of this belt earlier in the day that you placed your order. We had only one left - though we are expecting a shipment and will ship your item out the day it comes in. Therefore this may take a little longer to ship than normal in stock item. We have special relationships with the manufacturers so it will be processed quickly.

I'm wondering why IT STILL SHOWS IN STOCK AND YOU CAN ORDER IT ON THEIR SITE IF THEY'RE OUT!!

They did give me a coupon code for "A discount"
Doesn't say what kind of discount though...
