Glock 26: High Noon IWB vs Minotaur

#1

Post by Yarborough »

My plastic should be along in the next couple of weeks, and I'm already interested in trying some new holsters. My EDC (initially, and for at least 3-4 months while I get used to CHL) is a G26, and I'm currently using a Don Hume IWB in this style: http://www.donhume.com/index.php?main_p ... ucts_id=35. It's passable, but it gets to be pretty uncomfortable with practice carry around the house. Sitting down is an issue, and standing/moving around has shown that a) Appendix carry is nice--until I sit b) at 4 o'clock, where I'd prefer to carry, I can't kneel without the gun poking out.

I do need to go grab a better belt, but this holster (it was just what they had on hand when I purchased the Glock) isn't going to work long-term.

What I'm weighing: Should I consider a High Noon IWB (I like the look of the Down Under with straps) specifically for the G26 . . . OR, since I'm planning to move to a larger EDC in a few months (something along the lines of a Sig 220), would I be better served by ordering a Minotaur, then picking up spare bodies when the upgrade rolls around?

Really, the only reason I'm having this debate is that I suspect a Minotaur + G26 rig may feel kind of excessive--especially since I'll be beginning CHL during the hottest two months Houston has to offer. Concealment doesn't seem to be the issue: Even with the Hume, a gnarly old belt, and a t-shirt, I have zero problem making the gun disappear. There is the matter of pinching some of my fat/love-handle when reholstering, but that's another problem altogether :grumble

I've used all three holsters you mentioned (Don Hume, High Noon, & Comp Tac M-TAC Minotaur) and specifically carried a G26/27 in the High Noon and Minotaur. There is really no competition at all, the Minotaur is light years ahead of the other two in terms of comfort and stability. The High Noon - while better - is not a vast improvement over the old Don Hume design. The Minotaur most certainly is.

And just an FWIW, the Minotaur with the chestnut-brown leather backing--for all models of guns--is on sale through July 31 at a little over $10 off. Saves you some or all of the shipping cost.

Good info--thanks for that.

Come to find out, I should have taken a more recent look at the Comp-Tac site before running my mouth: The Chestnut MTAC is on sale through the end of July :woohoo , so even if I later decide one another IWB holy grail, I'll be ordering one of those puppies straightaway.

+1 on the Minotaur. I carry my G27 everyday with cargo shorts and untucked shirt. Very comfortable, even while sitting or driving.

Skiprr--You were hot on my heels, as per usual. I have one on the way--even managed to resist buying the 220 body, so as not to issue a de facto challenge to myself re filling said body before the time is right.
