I recently received my Texas CHL

I lived in another State and carried for eight years

I carry a North American 22 MAG mini revolver

in a reading glasses case that I bought for five dollars

I was very successful carrying in the eye glasses case and no one noticed that

I had a hand gun in the case insead of reading glasses

The case Fits right into my shirt pocket it is a hard sided case.

I keep a rubber band around the case for extra security

even if the case falls from my pocket it looks like I dropped my glasses

Always use a hard sided case it protects the gun from damage

Remember the rubber band it will prevent the case from opening

in event of an accidental drop

Out of curiosity, what is your average time from "go"signal to first shot on target with that method?

Sounds like a good idea for a BUG

I was going to ask the same thing. I can see it as a deep concealment backup gun, but not for primary carry. It is difficult enough to draw a regular subcompact/compact/full-sized pistol from a holster in the 2 seconds or so that it would take an attacker to cross the distance from the 15 yards "I have no business shooting anybody" range to the 2 foot "I NEED to shoot NOW" range........less than 2 seconds if the other guy has a gun too.

It's not a talisman. My guns are useless to me if I can't get to them in time to use them.

hold up armed robber... lemmie un-rubber band this case, open it up, pull out my gun, unfold it, point it at you while cocking it... and you can't shoot at me until I say go!

j/k.... Whatever works for you. I am still not comfortable carrying all the time yet. I always feel like my gun is waldo and everyone wants to find it. I understand wanting to be armed but still discreet.

I've carried a NAA Black Widow in a soft, padded glasses case. Only the tip of the butt showed, but the case was slit so that access was pretty good. I could remove it from my pocket and you could not tell it was anything but glasses inside.
I agree with the above comments WRT to OPs method, but I'd add that most of the time when you are in condition yellow you can "Un-rubber-band and maybe also slip it inconspicuously from the case into your pocket. But on those occasions when you have to take it out of your pocket, or maybe it drops out, it won't arouse angst among those around you.
Biggest issue I have with the NAA revolvers is the single-action trigger. I don't know that I'd be able to repeatedly cock and fire that little thing under duress, and my Black Widow is a step above a standard NAA magnum frame.. That's why my NAA has been relegated to around-the-house-and-yard duty. All my carry guns are DAO or DA/SA

As stated above it sounds like a good idea for a BUG but definitely not a primary carry. We carry in case we need to use our gun in self-defense. This means that you are being threatened or attacked by another person. I do not see small 22 in a wrapped up glasses case doing you any good in a self-defense situation.

It is a safe bet that if you cannot get to, draw, and fire your gun in 2 (at most 3) seconds then it won't be any use to you.

It is definitely not the optimum caliber for SD but as they say it's useless if you cannot accurately shoot it.

I notice that stephengauntt hasn't responded since his OP. I hope that we did not offend him somehow.

I would also suggest using that as a bug. I have a hard time carrying less than 380the ago for a carry gun. Something is better than nothing though.

That's true, but it's important to adjust one's tactics to reflect what one is carrying.

A .22 is more useful for covering a retreat than for engaging a charging BG.

Great idea...I carry my little NAA 22mag in a leather pocket holster. I'd worry about it falling out of my shirt pocket all the time.

To all the nay sayers about the little NAA...The first rule of any gunfight is too have a gun. I gauruntee having this little dude is waaaay better than harsh words or hooking and jabbing as self defense!

I dunno - that's a pretty fine line there........

...a tip for using a little gun like that one at close quarters as a last ditch defense is to punch 'em in the gut with it as you fire it...the gases and flame will triple the felt shock and do much more to take the fight out of them and make them stop what they're doing...
