XD Gear Console Holster Mount - Loctite

Just did this little project in about 25 minutes after reading some ideas on several forums. I really didn't want to put bolts through my console, so I did the following:
Purchase Loctite (About $4 at Wally World)

Clean Console (I used Clorox Wipes)

Sit in drivers seat to and mark most comfortable location to draw from. Hold holster with one hand in desired location and mark one side to use as a guide to line up when glueing (I just used a nail and made a scratch):

Apply liberal amount of glue to the holster, line up with guide mark, press firm and steady and hold for 2 or 3 minutes:

Apply more loctite after mount:

Since I am in Texas, and it must be 100% concealed, I thought this would be a quick and efficient way to store my firearm while driving and have easy access. I holstered my XD9SC 10-20 times to see if it would come loose, and it REALLY seems stable/permanent to me. I will let you know if it decides to fall off one day...but I doubt it!

It's the Kydex one that comes with all XDs (except the really old ones).

Yep, and the vehicle is a Z71 Extended cab 4x4, for reference sake : )

Hey Lars,
Excellent mod. to your vehicle! About 2 weeks ago, I decided to put to use the holster that came with my XD. The challenge was that I'm a left handed draw and they of course do not (as of yet) supply left handed holsters in the package deal. I have an XD model in .45ACP (5in barrel). Problem with applying that mod. to my vehicle's console was that I probably would have to go through a few more movements to accomodate my left hand draw should God forbid the need arise. I ended up bottom mounting the stock holster so that it is within my natural grasp, similar to if you were engaging the hood release. It is mounted with bolts and is not going anywhere. I do not keep it here all the time. My Desantis paddle is for that, however, long trips make it an ideal carry place.
I'm sure some may chide me for what is seemingly open carry. I won't debate that at this point.

I actually never thought of that lol. It certainly would require different mechanics to acquire being a lefty. Sounds like you implemented a nice fix for your situation though.

Nice mod.
I was a little confused, wondering what Loctite had to do with it, until I looked at the pics and saw that it was Loctite brand cyanoacrylate. Superglue, in other words, and not threadlock adhesive.
I'd consider cyanoacrylate a permanent mod, so you might as well use screws.

I bought my XD9sc a few years ago, so I didn't get this holster. Anyone know if Springfield sells these separately?

I have seen them for sell at one of the gun shops here in San Antonio. I would guess that you could find them online.
I like the idea of how you mounted the holster Larsin. Thanks for showing it to us. Now if my cay had a concole like that.

I saw a fella at one of the latest (non-Saxet) gunshows here in San Antonio who was selling his own version of these car mounts using a brass fitting that was machined to adjust the cant of the riveted holster once affixed to the vehicle. A very simple yet effective device. One of those things if you look at it long enough you say, "I can make that"...but ultimately shell out the money. He even had some custom made car console safes. Unfortunately his stock probably was meant for SUV/truck sized consoles. They were pretty ingenious. The lock mech. was a mechanical button combo lock (no need for batteries) and he made the door with an option to be springloaded. What I really thought was smart was the mount that brought your weapon out of the console in a provided holster. Definitely Batman stuff.
Alas, this is what we Lefties do to make sense of the right world. I think thats why we have shorter life spans!

Just a quick update. The holster is definitely permanent and not going anywhere. Hopefully it will withstand the cold months(ok days) we get here in Texas as well as it has handled the heat.
