I thought they had to vote Amendment 9 before addressing an amendment-to-the-amendment.Charles L. I surmise she is just trying to increase the penalty to persuade people from doing it, realizing this amendment might pass, JMHOCharles L. The current law requires you to have your CHL on you if you are carrying. If you don't, you can still be arrested and convicted. It doesn't happen because 1) concealed-carry is a non-issue; and 2) it's a misdemeanor. If it's a felony that's greater incentive to make the arrest (COPs like to make felony arrests) plus it will become law because of the Huffines amendment that LEOs view as a slap in the face.troglodyte wrote:I'm a little slow. How does this change from the way it is now? Just because you can't (or don't) produce your CHL when asked for ID there is no penalty. How does changing the severity of unlicensed carry change this? I can see you may be detained and it may take some time to get straightened out but wouldn't the "no penalty" still apply?Charles L. Cotton wrote:Now that's just fantastic. And if the House doesn't go along with it, and it very well may not, then we could be at an dead end just as we were last session when HB508 went down in flames.safety1 wrote:I surmise she is just trying to increase the penalty to persuade people from doing it, realizing this amendment might pass, JMHOCharles L. People, I don't think anyone realizes just how urgent this situation is. If HB910 goes down, so does campus-carry. All because an idiot wants to grandstand.

Some people here think that's his end game. I am inclined to believe them.Charles L.
