Here's an honest quote from an article in the Dallas Morning News from Tom Keefe, President, University of Dallas:

Saying student safety is a top priority, the leader of the private, Catholic university said “having guns indiscriminately spread on campus is going to make that job immeasurably harder.”

“The only people I want having guns are police and the bad guy,” he said. “I don’t want police to have to sort out who is John Wayne coming to the rescue.”

I would say it's pretty easy for cops to tell the bad guys from JW if SB11 fails. The bad guys will be gone scoring a bump from the money they just took or high-fiving each other for the "pretty little thing" they just molested. JW will be the angry ones pacing back and forth saying, "If I'd been armed." Also, easy to tell the victims too. They're the ones bleeding, shaking, crying, or just a 1000 mile stare losing its battle with reality.

If SB11 passes it will be equally easy to tell the bad guys from JW. By the time the cops get there, the bad guys will be bleeding or have run off. JW will be pacing with his/her gun reholstered ready to give their statement. Does he think cops have teleporters that can magically place a cop where and when needed?

This is a tired rehash of the anti-CHL arguments from the '90. You know, that place where the liberals STILL live.
I don't fear guns; I fear voters and politicians that fear guns.

True, but it's the first time I've seen an anti-gun advocate admit that bad guys will still have guns and they want it that way. LOL. Awkward statement at best.

OK -- it is now 11:58, and I dont see conferees from the House. This needs to happen in the next couple of hours for them to have a reasonable chance to get everything done with enough time to vote on Saturday or Sunday, am I right? Make the conference committee, HOUSE! :waiting:

Joe Strauss waited until the very last day that SB11 was eligible for a vote to schedule it. I don't think he will be in any hurry to appoint conferees.

In fact, he may be able to just let the clock run out and not appoint conferees at all if he can take the heat. He is adamantly against campus carry and has said so in an interview.

As of right now, the Senate conferees have been selected, but not the House's. It's dragging on.

At this point, I don't see how a conference committee on campus carry can get a bill back in time to get it scheduled with enough time left to realistically avoid a filibuster, especially if the House hasn't even appointed the committee members yet, and especially when we have to go in all to get OC done. If OC had already been on Abbott's desk like it was supposed to be, maybe we would have had enough gas in the tank to push CC through. At this point, it's hard for me to imagine a scenario where that happens.

Thanks Joe. OC isn't your fault this time, but this is. I hope enough people remember but I'm sure they won't.

In any event, it is absolutely imperative that we get this OC elephant out of the room. It will continue to eat us alive if we don't.

He was on record in a news article as stating h was pro-campus carry, until an open carry incident in his office ...
That was Nevárez, not Fischer.

Fischer is the "King of PoO" (and managed to delay HB910 when it was first set to be heard in the House earlier in the session).
