Re: Campus Carry -- Where Are We Now?
House recessed until 2:00 on Sunday doesn't bode well for campus carry methinks.

"recessed" until then he corrected himselfPapa_Tiger wrote:House stands adjourned until 2:00 PM Sunday.
Re: Campus Carry -- Where Are We Now?
Looks like we will have to wait until tomorrow. I think I'll wait until Monday to see what happened.

Something happened last session, where tomorrow was today or vice versasugar land dave wrote:Filibuster on SB11 tomorrow? Chances anyone?
<shrugs> I dunno
Re: Campus Carry -- Where Are We Now?
wow, I am thinking that this move will diminish the chances of passing SB11...... maybe there is a rabbit in somebody's hat though

Yes, House is in recess. I'm afraid Strauss will let this run down to the wire, in order to kill it. I'm more concerned about him in the House than I am about the filibuster threat in the Senate.NotRPB wrote:thought I just heard pers priv resolution on Senate Bill 11 motion along with many others ? about talking oob ?
recessing house until tomorrow 2 pm adjourned, no recessed

quoting last session "Is it today or is it tomorrow yet?" recess versus adjournment for the day

Re: Campus Carry -- Where Are We Now?
Catching up and I think I've read everything.
My hope is they've already done a head count and decided that it's better to let the clock run out with a 2 point lead than throw into coverage for a big score. The risks are too great of creating another Dem superstar that will funnel money into the state progressives with a "Wendy Davis" moment. Turner is running for Houston Mayor. Don't you think he's like to be the Savior of the House? Unless they have a sure thing, It's better to let it fade away until next session when, hopefully, there won't be as many distractions.
Of course, the other possibility is a throwback to the original deal and the House wants to vote last to make it their victory? I don't know if that's even possible. But it's the one glimmer of hope.
EDIT: I see that SB11 is up now in the Upper House. We'll see what's what.

Re: Campus Carry -- Where Are We Now?
Somehow I missed the community college carve out. Community colleges need the ability to carry more than most universities. Now if SB 11 passes, community college students won't be able to carry until 8/1/2017.
