Creates an offense to those who carry on their own property while intoxicated.
Adopted
I dunno if I might point of order that. This bill pertains to carry in public by unlicensed individuals, not your private property.
Forgive me if I got it wrong. Yes, this is to make it an offense if an unlicensed individual is carrying a weapon on your private property or with permission of the property owner while you are intoxicated.
I don't love this one. I guess it goes to the definition of "carrying". I have a personal rule that before I touch drink #2 at my house during a party, etc., my gun comes off my side and into a safe. But if someone keeps their safe in the same room they are in while having a few drinks is that considered to be "carrying"?

Also, is there an exception to this if someone breaks into your house and you need to use a weapon in self defense while you are intoxicated?

Amendment #12 by Schwertner
Assuming this removes 46.15 (m) - (Non-applicability of 30.05 unless you receive oral notification) based on the description.

30.05 sign will be a separate amendment.

Passes

I don't recall what they were but I think it was 2 out of the 5 that were adopted and both that passed were put forward by the author (Schwertner).

I think he has 8 overall that he is putting forward.

Are they getting anywhere close to actually voting and passing a bill or just talking and posturing until time runs out?

Time doesn't run out until midnight. It would be unlikely that they can offer enough amendments to stop this from passing in some form today.

I think there are 27 or 28 amendments in total. Not sure about amendments to amendments that might pop up.

Thanks for LSing the process Papa Tiger! I have a work call and these people are making me crazy!!! These amendments are crazy. If a person was convicted of a felony before 1982 and is walking down the street concealed carrying while wearing a blue shirt how will the police know to stop that person? :mad5

I don't recall which one it was but one of these amendments removed an amendment that was put in by the House.
