really didnt want to make this thread so soon...
...or at all, for that matter.
but - i got pulled over tonight.
just got my plastic in the mail on Monday and here i am already having my first LEO encounter. driving from conroe to our house, we came across 2 staties with a car pulled over. it's a 2 lane freeway, so we slowed down to about 25 mph as we passed them and as soon as we did, one of them popped in behind us and lit em up.
my first thought was, 'wait - i was doing 25 in a 60, that cant be why he's pulling me over...'
window was down, turned the truck off and set the keys on the dash. my wallet was in the center console, next to my loaded weapon, so i went ahead and pulled out my TDL and CHL before he even left his cruiser.
he approached, seemed nice enough - asked how i was doing and smiled. i responded with light pleasantries and handed him my IDs. he asked if i had the weapon on me and i replied, 'yes sir... its in the center console.'
he nodded and said, 'ill be right back.'
less than 2 minutes later he was at my door again with a warning for no front plate. my wife spoke up and said, 'thats my fault... it fell off when i hit a pole a while back.'
he smiled and looked at me and said, 'well then - blame her for getting you pulled over.'
i laughed, he told us to be safe and i shook his hand while i thanked him.
very nice guy, didn't bat an eye at the CHL situation and let me off with a warning.
i'll take it!! glad i wasn't in my GTO lol

Greatest guys in the world to get pulled over by.

Sounds like a CHL friendly encounter, as it should be.

...on a side note - if anyone has plans to go out and party this weekend... MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A DD!
we had a babysitter last night, so we went to a friend's house to hang out for the evening. on the way home at around 1am we stopped counting the number of police cars we saw once we hit 10... it was CRAZY how many were out there.
be safe, be smart and have a happy 4th!

GTO, eh?
The original GTO name was Gran Turismo Omologato (or similar) and was stolen by GM.
It meant a car that had enough production units made that it wasn't considered a one-off race car.
IIRC, for US homologation purposes, a minimum of 500 units had to be made and sold to consumers.
But here's some other meanings that have popped up over the years:
Gets Tickets Often
Gas, Tires, and Oil
Grinds Tires Off
SIA

I know people who would fail a sobriety test at that time on weekends due to the amount of drinking they did the night before.SQLGeek wrote:At about 11:40 this morning I saw an officer administering a sobriety test to a young lady. Fer crying out loud people...

you are correct on all counts. mine is even more of an insult as it's a 2004 GTO. not only do the ferrari folks hate it because we stole their name, the 'old schoolers' hate it because it's not a real GTO.surprise_i'm_armed wrote:GTO, eh?

We're supposed to have a front license plate?

lol yes and, more specifically - it's supposed to be on the furthest most forward point on the vehicle. (as in, the front bumper - not the windshield.)Texas Dan Mosby wrote:We're supposed to have a front license plate?
