Short class for a judge

I had a student today who told me halfway through the class that he is an active judge and that he had spoken to DPS and confirmed that he only needed the abbreviated class (per 411.201(f)). We had already covered the required topics - use, proficiency, and safety; and storage. I gave him the test, but scratched a small hole in my head trying to determine how I was supposed to issue a CHL-100 that would indicate that he took the shorter class.
I finally had a breakthrough - the NEW CHL-100!!! By marking "Original" and showing the actual time spent (about 4 hours), it does not imply that he took the entire 10 hours like the old CHL-100 would.
Has anyone trained a judge with the shorter class? How did you complete the CHL-100?

Was that judge a renewal? Judges do not need the classroom portion for renewal (411.201(g)).

I switched to this method on my last class. I have a 10 hour and a 4 hour CHL 100 for students. By the way, I thought a judge just had to shoot but not any class time? I have had 2 so far this year that I have qualified but only on the range.

From what I see in the code, judges are required to have a class covering those two topics (with no time requirement) for original issue per 411.201(f), but they do not require a class for renewal per 411.201(g).

If someone wants just the range or just the classroom, that's easy to accommodate. Only sign off which one of the two they got, and fill out the class completion form accordingly. However, if someone told me in the middle of class they want a custom class, they're out of luck.

I haven't had a judge or any type of judicial official in any of my classes yet, but your discussion is making me wanna go back and look carefully to make sure that I'm prepared in the rare case I DO get one! LOL.

#0 buckshot is .32 caliber and you could probably load 4-5 in a .410, so you could put 50 holes in the target pretty quick with a Judge.
