Austin Area Ranges to use temporarily for a CHL Class

#1

Post by cabindoor »

Hey all,

I posted earlier about available ranges to teach a CHL Class in the San Antonio area, but have also had requests for the Austin Area for some friends and family as well. Does anyone have info on ranges and classroom facilities to use in the Austin area? I'm Stationed out of town, but just need the use for a weekend or two. Thanks so much for any help anyone can provide.

Eagle Peak in Leander near Jonestown is good about allowing instructors.

Best of the West in Liberty Hill used to be real picky but I've heard they've loosened up a bit.

There's a new range in Georgetown - The Firing Line, but haven't discussed with them yet.

Red's Indoor is a big fat NO every time I've asked. That's about it unless you want to get all the way down to Lockhart.

I talked to the guys at the firing line and was told they require that they are named on your instructor insurance policy. they also require a $350 fee to allow you to use the range and $50 per class to reserve a time slot.

If you use Eagle Peak, mind your Ps and Qs to T or you may get verbally ripped apart by one of their "personable" staff. :)
