Instructor Renewal instructions still incorrect...

I got my renewal notice and jumped right on it.. probably jumped the gun as I have like 8 months but oh well, too late, it's done..

Anyways, once I filled out the form online and paid, it gave me a checklist but the checklist said I had to send in a CHL-90 but that doesn't make any sense.

I also checked my renewal from 2011 and it asked for a CHL-90 but I never sent one, and I got my renewal notice a week or two later.

Can anyone confirm this instruction is STILL incorrect?

Also, their website is broken in addition to the incorrect instructions. Once you renew your Instructor certification, it fails to let you back in to manage your regular CHL license. For instance I need to renew my CHL license this year too. I was going to begin the renewal process but now it won't let me because my Instructor renewal is still pending.. Ugh.. Any ideas? Has anyone else run into this and found a work-around? I will have to call them I suppose?

Thanks RX8er, but I'm just renewing I already did the class and have been an instructor for 3 years now. But I did see a few late posts in that 2nd thread (ex. viewtopic.php?f=18&t=62658&start=30#p773916" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) which state the DPS office is responding to folks and stating they do not need to send in the CHL-90. This is as I suspected (as I posted above), but just wanted to confirm their instructions are STILL incorrect now after 2+ years... (sigh).

I'm a webmaster as a side job, maybe I should offer up my skills to help them fix their web site?? (It would only take 5 minutes probably!)...

:rolll

I understand your'e just renewing. The point in the threads, if I grabbed the correct ones, is that DPS is finalizing the renewal process and even the CHL-90 is up for debate. I don't think you can say for sure right now if they need them or not.

The other point is that for new instructors, you will have to have had a Handgun instructors course. IMO, I think this is what the 90 change is all about. I think for a renewal, you are going to have to submit the 90 and provide proof that you have had the handgun course. Just my thoughts....

Good idea. You could charge them a lot, take up to 60 days and not update them until it's all finished. :biggrinjester:

Good luck on the renewal.

Ok, I see. It seems like every year it is the same story from DPS. Change is coming. Yet it never really comes. I recall a long time ago they said the website would be overhauled. It was hardly changed much. Then they said they would mandate their own PPTs for coursework. Never did. Years later, nothing has changed LOL. I will wait to see what happens. Hopefully they at least NOTIFY me versus me having to find out here.. :D
