Trap shooting

Who else is hooked on trap shooting? I went 2 weeks ago and now can't get it off my mind. I sold my 870 and bought a berreta xtrema2. I am jonesing to go back. Eagle Peak (Leander) is my current fav.

Shotgun games are fun! I was very into trap long ago. When I was stationed in Sacramento, I shot twice per week. Sun. afternoon, and Wed. NIGHT! Try shooting at night with white targets. Man, what a thrill.

most of our club shoots are at night, under lights, with regular orange clays.... but I'm talking about five stand and not trap. Anyhow, I did get kinda hooked on clays a few years ago which lead me to find out that dove hunting was worth the purchase of the annual hunting license I've obtained for the last 35+ years. Shooting the clays is a blast... eating grilled dove breasts is the reward for all those thousands of rounds at the clay range

I never was big on "Trap".

I enjoy Skeet and Sporting Clays, but I haven't shot in a while.

I hear El Gato is pretty good.

Trap would just be an excuse for me to buy an Extrema2. I'm already trying to figure it in to my "tools" budget. Then a combat semi 16 or 20 guage

They have 3 fixed station trap launchers and a 5 stage trap (or 5 stage skeet). Pretty nice when the weather is nice

Okay, let me embarrass myself here...what's the difference between trap, skeet, and sporting clays?

I just started playing so let me see if I have it right.

Trap is a 180 degree rotating motorized launcher that always has the same arc that but the direction is random, and mostly away from you. I have only played on stationary launchers myself.

Skeet is 2 different houses that shoot high or low across you field of view

Sporting clays is several different scenerio simulations where you may be shooting at a "rabbit" on the ground or a duck over water or a grouse through a valley. It looks like fun.

These examples are based on my limited knowledge of the sports.

I agree 100%. I waited until I turned 50 to discover the fun of turning clay frisbees into orange powder, and wish it had been 35 years earlier. It adds a whole new dimension to shooting... as in turning range shooting into a 3 dimensional sport rather than simple static 2d targets.

Hmmm, looks like it could be fun. May have to put the long barrell back on the 870 and give it a go sometime. I'd hate to have regrets, you know!

Been doing it for awhile, big time hunter here. Introduced my over 50's mother to it a couple of years ago, she liked it but not much said.

I took my mother and girlfriend 2 weeks ago and they both loved it and hounded me to take em back.

Well, Mom already purchased her a Beretta 391 s/a. My shotgun was a little to long and heavy for them so it left some nice little bruises on them.

We actually went again today so she could shoot her new toy.
