Why I will never buy Double Tap Ammo again!!
Well I ordered my first batch of ammo from these guys about a month ago, things went off without a hitch, the ammo was great, everything was splendid.
I thought things would go the same this time, I WAS WRONG!!
I ordered my replacement ammo about 2 weeks ago on Thursday 11/22 and expected about a two day arrival, maybe three at most as did the first order. Well, the package shipped the next day on Friday 11/23 and I was expecting an arrival around Tuesday or Wed. at the latest of LAST WEEK!!
Well here it is the following Thursday with no ammo yet. I talked to the UPS guy and he said he had not delievered anything to my apt. that he can remember, and asked if I had the tracking number, of course I dont, they dont include that in the "it shipped" email!! After the 5th time of trying to contact this guy I have had NO RESPONSE from either of the two emails or three phone call voice messages I have left stating my concern as to why the package never arrived.
After this post I will make it the 6th time trying to contact this thief as to where my package is and
I WILL NEVER ORDER FROM DOUBLE TAP AGAIN!! Following that I will start calling the bank and BBB to see if this guy is a member!! Holiday's be (Edited For Language) if they are closed, or out of town they need to state that on their message (since they never answer the phone) and quit stating their hours as 10-6 Monday through Saturday!!

I could investigate this if I had the tracking number, but since my calls and emails are/were never returned I have no idea where its at?Lumberjack98 wrote:Is there the possibility that the delivery was left on your front porch and it was stolen?
Again on the 6th try yet again, no answer of the phones!!

I finally got an email today and ironically was calling him at the same time and actually got an answer!! Needless to say it is said that UPS supposedly lost the package in Kansas and it never made it to Texas. Had I not called, wrote, complained, no one would have never known anything is what he said.
Needless to say, now the 45 185gr. are all of a sudden on back order for 1-2weeks and I have to wait that much longer to get those. He is going to ship the 135gr 40's and wait until the 45's come in and ship those separately.
Either way, this has really left a bad taste and lack of trust in further orders. I believe the best bet is to find someone elsewhere.
Any recommendations out there??

just like with your driving, relax.
it's not his fault. he didn't MAKE UPS lose the package. maybe he didn't have a routing number. lord knows he's got other customers, too!
these are the things we go through when we mail order something.
recommendations? sure, buy it all at a gunshow and save the hassle!
or accept that doooooo happens, now and again.

I picked up a bottle of titegroup for $14 and 500 rounds of 9mm for $4.50/100!!! If I recall correctly, they had a 250 round pack of Magtech .45acp for something like $55 or so. Primers were also priced a few dollars below Cabella's asking prices. Great shop and a friendly guy behind the counter willing to discuss your interests.
I give this place two guns up!!!!

You make the assumption that UPS did indeed lose a package... whereas the sudden unavailability of the .45 ammo makes me think there was no package in the first place and he was merely trying to stall.DoubleJ wrote:just like with your driving, relax.

Double Tap does TONS of business... no reason to bull you IMO... i've purchases probably 500$ in ammo from them in the last year without a hitch...DFWCHLer wrote:You make the assumption that UPS did indeed lose a package... whereas the sudden unavailability of the .45 ammo makes me think there was no package in the first place and he was merely trying to stall.DoubleJ wrote:just like with your driving, relax.

I also worked for UPS... it's more likely to have a package lost/destroyed than you think... they called us "throwers" not loaders... if your box was mishandled and opened in any way, hazmat teams have to handle it as a "dangerous product" and it cannot be repacked in house to continue shipment.
relax as far as not answering phones/emails how many days did it take from email#1 to get a reply... you have to understand most places that do that much business will take a few days b/c they answer those emails in the order received.

But the original poster said Double Tap did not give him a tracking number. If the package was indeed lost or damaged Double Tap should be able to provide a tracking number that shows that it was indeed shipped and did get lost or damaged in route.Lykoi wrote:Double Tap does TONS of business... no reason to bull you IMO... i've purchases probably 500$ in ammo from them in the last year without a hitch...DFWCHLer wrote:You make the assumption that UPS did indeed lose a package... whereas the sudden unavailability of the .45 ammo makes me think there was no package in the first place and he was merely trying to stall.

So I agree with DFWCHLer that the package may not have ever been shipped and now Double Tap is stalling for time.
Of course like all things I do not have the full details nor has Double Tap had a chance to provide their side of the story so we are all just making assumptions at this point.

Thats were I was going with my assumption, just seemed a little odd that all of a sudden the ammo wasnt available and now I have to wait basically another month (in total) for my order. If I was just told in the first place that the ammo was on backorder I would have tried again later, or just cancelled the order and went elsewhere, NOT sit around and wait for ammo that I stock up for those "JIC" events. As it is now, I used my other box I bought from him for my CHL qualifying in order to test it for quality, reliablity and accuracy. Plus, I just plain forgot to go buy a box of Ball rounds to test with.DFWCHLer wrote:You make the assumption that UPS did indeed lose a package... whereas the sudden unavailability of the .45 ammo makes me think there was no package in the first place and he was merely trying to stall.DoubleJ wrote:just like with your driving, relax.

Even after talking to him on the phone a week later he never provided a tracking number, or offered it for that matter.
Every UPS, Fedex, and DHL package I've ever seen has had a tracking number. USPS only offers "delivery confirmation" numbers, but apparently Double Tap uses UPS.Lykoi wrote:did you ask for it?
and not all packages have a "tracking number" some are only verifiable if lost, as they are marked from hub to transit/hub transit/delivery etc..
