Punk gets some Justice
BOSQUE COUNTY - An attempted robbery went awry around 10:15 Tuesday Morning when the store's owner saw a man with a ski mask coming through the door, pulled out his gun, and began firing at the masked man.
The clerk managed to hit the robber twice, once in each thigh, as the masked man escaped. Stafford L. Jones, 29 of Waco, was identified as the alleged robber and is being treated for gunshot wounds.
It happened about ten Tuesday morning at the Lake Stop Convenience store near the Bosque County side of the Lake Whitney Dam. A man described as about 5-10 wearing a t-shirt, red shorts and a red ski mask entered the store. The would be robber did not count on the fact that the man behind the counter was armed after having been beaten severely in another robbery back in 2006. The store clerk began firing as the robber attempted to come over the counter.
The would be robber fled in a silver Ford Taurus, but was stopped about a mile from the FM 933, Highway 22 intersection by Hill County deputies.

I'm all for thugs getting their due justice, but I did not read anything about any kind of weapon on the would be robber/assailant/murderer.

Whether he was armed or not, I think it's safe to say he had some nefarious plans. The store clerk began firing as the robber attempted to come over the counter.

With the guy climbing over the counter, the thighs may have been the only large mass available to shoot at.flb_78 wrote:What? This is terrible!! How can we be condoning this?!?!?

Remember, Center Of Mass means the center of the largest mass available to you at the time. You can only shoot at what you can see and/or where you can point your gun. The BG could have been over the top of this guys drawn gun, with only the legs in front of him available to shoot.

Re: Punk gets some Justice
Perhaps the BG - who was charging over the counter(s) towards the owner - was larger than the store owner and, thus, considered to be a lethal threat by the store owner? This would negate the need for the BG to have possession of any physical weapon, no?phddan wrote:I'm all for thugs getting their due justice, but I did not read anything about any kind of weapon on the would be robber/assailant/murderer.

Re: Punk gets some Justice
This is not a simple case of self defense. It is also a case of deadly force in defense of property and stopping the commission of a violent felony. This is more than covered under the law.M9FAN wrote:Perhaps the BG - who was charging over the counter(s) towards the owner - was larger than the store owner and, thus, considered to be a lethal threat by the store owner? Re: Punk gets some Justice
The story seems thin on details, but the weather was too probably warm for a ski mask, since the perp was wearing shorts and a t-shirt.

Re: Punk gets some Justice
So was it coming in the door, attemtempting to go over the counter, or as the man escaped, that shots were fired.
Or was it all of the above?
