DFW area TexasCHLforum day
This month has a fifth weekend and there are no scheduled matches on Saturday, the 29th, at my club, the Dallas Pistol Club in Carrollton, TX. I have arranged to have a fun shoot that Saturday and would like to invite TexasCHLforum members to come join us for a get-together to meet and greet one another. I have met a few of the local members at the TSRA meeting earlier this year, but would like to meet more. I have seen posts that have suggested a get-together and I am hoping this might work out. I believe the planned PSC TexasCHLforum day would be later this year so this would not interfere.
I plan to set up a few personal protection stages, similar to IDSA but modified to fit our club rules. The shoot will start at 11:00, so you can come early or stay late to visit. It should take no more than 100 rounds. Bring a holster (3:00 strong side), extra mags and concealment cover. If you are comfortable with drawing from concealment, you can, or if not, you can start from the ready position. We should be done shooting by 1:00.
You are also welcome to join us on the 30th for a planned steel match at 9:00. It's called the "Ironman" match and will consist of 6 stages of 7 targets each stage and will be scored the best of 6 runs on each stage. Round count minimum will be 252 rounds, which means bring 350 to 400 rounds. I will be there both days.
Let me know if this will work out for anybody. Use the link to the club for directions on how to get here, or PM me. Any forum member is welcome to join us, local or not.

Myself and the other RO's will be quite accomodating with regard to shooters not experienced in action pistol matches. We regularly have new shooters at our regularly scheduled matches and as long as the shooters are safety conscious and follow the RO's instructions, there should be no problems. Our club matches are designed to teach, challenge and develop shooting skills and we take the time to make sure that our shooters have a good time and occasionally learn something.nitrogen wrote:I'd love to attend something like this, especially if there's some "how-to" for anyone who'se never shot IDPA or the like before.
Well, I'm considering several options in that regard. Depending on how many can commit to coming and how much help I can get, we'll see. However, I wouldn't count on it for now. I'll keep you informed as time goes on.HighVelocity wrote:Sounds like a lot of fun. Is there going to be lunch?
Spouses and/or significant others are more than welcome to come. There will be no fee to come shoot with us. You will all be my guests. I am considering setting up a "donation" jar to help with expenses, however, just to help the club defray costs for supplies and equipment for set-up. If you choose to come out Sunday and shoot the Ironman match, its cost will be $11 for non-club members.jimlongley wrote:I will make every effort to attend, I seem to have that weeked off from travel and everything, for once.
Are spouses invited?
How much is the gate fee?
My objective is to provide a scenario where we can get together and meet each other and have a little fun in doing so. As far as match specifics, I generally plan and design my match stages (I run the Personal Protection match) about 5 minutes after I start setting them up (its worked so far.)JLinTX wrote:I would be able to attend to, anymore specifics?)
