Count me in for both days. I'll be bringing my daughter with me on Saturday. Can she shoot also, or are stages too "grown-up"? She is 12.

I just told my wife about this and she just may come along and shoot too.
She has never shot a match before but she has listened to me talk about it ad nauseum.

She wants to know if she can shoot the scenario with her 45LC single action.

I don't know quite what you mean by "grown up", but I try to design my stages as easy to medium complexity with some movement, not much though due to my arthritis limitations. Also, I don't design any "adult" oriented stages if that is what you meant. As long as your daughter is skilled in handling a firearm and can control it while firing it, she's welcome to come. You will have to stay with her at all times since she is only twelve, though. Last week, I had a 14 year old shoot with us and he finished in the top half after scoring.

I try to desigh all my stages as revolver friendly, though I've only had double action revolvers shoot the matches. I categorize the shooters as Single Stack SA, Double Stack SA, and Revolver. As I said above, if she can shoot it and control it, she's more than welcome to come play with us. My matches are designed to have fun at and maybe learn something. I don't award prizes and I do not tolerate "gamesmanship" attitudes that I have seen at some IPSC and IDPA matches.

Y'all come and have fun.

So, how many do you have signed up? Can we just show up or do you need a head count? What time should we be there?

Thanks,

Sounds like a great idea. I've been looking for the opportunity to start up a newer hobby. While I've never shot a pistol match, it sounds like great fun and I've been wanting to see the Dallas Pistol Club too so it looks like a win, win thing.....

Any specific ammo not allowed?

It's getting closer to Saturday, so I'm posting this little reminder for the get-together and fun shoot. As always, when one tries to set up something like this, Mr. Weather seems to rise up and try to "dampen" the moment. It's only a chance as of now, but Saturday is three days away and this is Texas. Keep your fingers crossed for some good weather. If worse comes to worse, I'll still be there and we can meet and greet each other, and maybe shoot when it stops raining.

But enough pessimism. The weather will be great and we'll have a good time. I've set up this shoot for our regular club shooters, so we will have plenty of experienced shooters and RO's to help those less familiar with action shooting (once you play these games, a single target down-range will seem awful boring). Most any pistol or ammo will be OK (we don't have S&W .500 approved yet, so no super powerful exotic ammo). I'm planning on having 5 or 6 stages set up, relatively simple drills, target recognition, and a little distance shooting. I anticipate 10 to 15 txCHLforum members with about as many club shooters. We'll see who shows up when they get there.

I had tried to plan for a hamburger type cookout for after the shoot, but work and other issues have prevented that plan. There are several good places to eat around the club, however. Maybe next year.

Plan on shooting to start around 11:00, so come a little early, like 10 or 10:30 to get ready. Keep your fingers crossed for good weather, and I hope to see you there. PM me if you have any specific questions.

I am planning on being there as well. Can't wait to meet some of the DFW regulars.
