Might be because parking was such a hassle many did not go. I see no reason for a football game to block parking for the gun show, simply rediculous. I parked at one of our garages 1 street over and walked but most did not have that option and had to take a train. Show seemed a lot smaller than usual and there werent any real deals to me.RECIT wrote:I went late on Sunday like a fool and didn't find a darn thing. Only talked to a few friendly people...most were looking pretty tired and irritated. I was looking for an Ak or a CZ75 with a de-cocker. I could not find a deal on either.

Re: Houston Gun Show
I would expect that by Sunday all the exhibitors were dog tired. The crowd on Sat was huge.
Lots of buying going on. One dealer had as much as 2 hour wait to write up the sale because
so many were buying the 4-5 people working on paperwork could not catch up. Lots of ammo being
sold, eventhough I thought some of the prices were a little inflated. Appeared to me that some of
it was panic buying. I was told several RUMORS about what might happen if NObama is elected.

Re: Houston Gun Show
The only thing i saw a good deal on was a few hand guns that were not to my liking, a few AR15 deals to be had, and some paper targets. The ammo pricing there made me laugh...I asked the vendor if I could get some bulk pricing on 1000rds. He rudely said this IS gun show pricing and I pay whats on the box whether I buy 1 or 1000 its all the same. I just told him I guess I'll go give my money to Wally World and come out on top. Thats probably what he did anyway and now just trying to make it back...

Wanted to go, but couldn't make it on Saturday. When I saw that you would have to park off-site and take a shuttle on Sunday, just decided to stay home and reload some ammo.

When is the next one? I want to go to my first gun show before Biden bans them.

Re: Houston Gun Show
Amber,
There are High Caliber shows at George R. Brown on Nov 15-16 and at the Pasadena Convention Center on Nov. 22-23.
Good luck and take plenty of money!
The Conroe show this weekend was the most crowded I've ever seen. The vendors were charging exorbitant prices and apparently enough people were willing to pay them. The most extreme cases were AK's and AR's. If you're looking to buy a revolver or something else relatively 'tame', you may not see the increase.

Re: Houston Gun Show
I waited to go to the Conroe Show until Sunday as I heard it was wall to wall people Saturday. It was back to a normal number of people and plenty of room to walk around. I found the prices on Sunday to be fairly normal as well. There were plenty of the EBG's as well. The venders had a chance to restock Saturday night! AJC Sports was there as usual with a good selection. A very nice show and good afternoon entertainment for $5.00. Oh yea, I got a parking space right in front!
Took two ladies with me. They are starting the process of selecting a semi-auto. We had a great time.

Re: Houston Gun Show
Wait, does this mean it's no longer posted 30.06? Most of the comments from years past say the place is posted (despite being city-owned, therefore invalid) with a HUGE sign. I'll be in Houston over the weekend when the next show (High Caliber) is going to be going on there. I don't know Houston well, and certainly am not going to be leaving my gun(s) in a car downtown. If they're going to try and make an issue of posting, I'll just decline to attend.bdickens wrote:I went.
Looked at the sign above the entrance doors that said among other things the people entering are subject to search and that "No weapons of any kind allowed. This includes handguns carried in accordance with the Concealed Handgun Law" or somesuch nonsense, chuckled to myself and walked right on in, right past a gaggle of cops, and all the way down the long hall and bought a ticket. Then I went into one of the restrooms, found a stall and unloaded my Glock. Then I went and got it zip tied by one of the nice HPD officers and carried it around in my hand in the holster while I browsed the tables. A couple of people asked me if I was selling it. Upon leaving, I went to the restroom again and loaded back up.
Oh, I almost forgot. I picked up a beat-up old single-action .22LR revolver to have fun with.

Re: Houston Gun Show
NcongruNt,
The entrance into the exhibit hall (not to the building) is posted by a huge mobile sign when I went to the gun show last year. However, as bdickens wrote, you just unload your pistol before you enter into the exhibit hall and have the officers zip tie it. I have been George R. Brown Convention Center for other events and have always carried, have yet to see a permanent 30.06 sign.
Now whether it is legal to post the sign at the hall for the gun show, that it is another discussion.
