Gun show returns to Denton Feb. 21/22

A couple of members called and e-mailed to give heads-up on what is, to me anyway, pretty short notice of local promotor getting gun show going in Denton again.

IIRC, it's been at least two years since they had 'em at the (now demolished) old K-Mart building. Even then, when we were renting a table there, they were trying to move the show to an old Home Depot building. Looks like they may have got 'er dun. http://www.classicshows.com/index.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I have seen a few of the billboards around the metroplex this week, and plan to go by there on Saturday. Unfortunately I don't have the money to buy any new toys and will probably just walk out of there with a roll of silhouette targets.

I sent this to my friends in Denton. . . make sure to give us a report on how it went. I'm always looking for an alternative to the High Caliber mess at Will Rogers.

I should make it by there this weekend. How can I pass up going when it's only a few miles from my house!

Just back from setting up there. Looks like maybe 2 of the big gun dealers present. Our table on the right, one isle in from from edge. About 1/3 of the way back, right next to the "Femine Protection" lady. :cool:

For those coming from the south (Exit 465B), if going very fast on exit ramp/access road, it's easy to go past that entrance to parking lot. Semi-Decent "Gun Show" banners low on building. And yep, 30.06 sign was laying by front door but not put up yet.

They ALL do this! I don't get it. . . the only time I've seen a negligent discharge it was a dealer. They should just have clear signs that say, "You cannot expose a concealed handgun in public. If you need to look for parts or accessories for a legally concealed gun, you must go to your vehicle, unload the gun, and return with the action locked open." . . . or something to that effect.

Yep, the statistics show that the highest number of NDs at shows IS with vendors' guns. With all due respect, until some folks have actually done something similar to walking in the shoes of the gun show sponsors, paying the insurance premiums and dealing with opening the doors to both vendors and the general public, they may never "get it".

Very good "first day" crowd. Lotsa local people, varied vendors. Got to meet and have a nice little chat with DoubleJ.

No real "bargains" that I saw on ammo - but at least there was quite a bit there to be had. Another show typical of recent times with $400 SKSs, $700 AKs and $1,200 (++) ARs.

One former student came by after buying a new S&W M&P Compact 9 for around $490 - considerably less than I paid for one back in November. Then a few minutes later, another student from about 2 years ago came by, the proud owner of a new LCP - for which he had paid $429 + tax !!!

It was genuinely good to meet you, finally! :lol: i've looked for your booth at other shows, and somehow have managed to miss it, more often than not!

I found, and bought, some Hornady TAP FPD .223 rounds that sound very fascinating. don't think I got gouged too much over the price, and being as I've not seen them on the shelves anywhere, was happy to purchase. I like to pick up something here and there at the shows, show a little monetary support.

was funny, Vin Diesel was zip tying guns at the door. actually, it was a nice gentleman who works for WRB, which was funny, to me, because this particular trip, I was carrying my wee revolver in a WRB pocket holster! we had a nice short chat about how much I've enjoyed the holster, and how well it's lasted (I've had the holster for ~2 years). I swear, the world gets smaller and smaller every day! :lol:
FWIW, IIRC, AFAIK, FTMP, IANAL. YMMV.

I made it to the show around noon today. Lots of cars in the parking lot, but no real line to get inside. I only had a few minutes to walk around, but it looked to have some good selection. I did see a Ruger LCP for $429 :shock: I paid $289 for mine at Academy not very long ago.

I was glad to see them have a show in Denton again. I hope it was successful and they have them more often.
