Dallas vs Fort Worth gun show

#1

Post by Chemist45 »

Hello all.
I've got a hankering for a real big gunshow and I'm willing to make the drive to get to it.
In October there is the Dallas (Bigtown) show on the 3rd & 4th and the Fort worth show on the 10th & 11th.
Which of these is the bigger (better) show?

When I was on the gun show circuit of the Ft.Worth/Dallas area, the 2 biggest were the Ft.Worth show at the Round-Up Inn at Will Rogers, and the Dallas Market Hall show. And both had about 1600-1800 tables. I heard the Mesquite show is quite good, but not sure if it has as many tables. So my bet would be on the Ft.Worth show, out of the 2. But I admit I partial to Ft.Worth show, as it's only 20 min. from me.

With the exception of Market Hall, in the last 3 months I've been to all of them. I'll second the FW show being the best. It seems to have the most vendors and therefore the biggest selection. YMMV

Since it's between Ft. Worth and Bigtown, the bigger of the two is by far the Ft. Worth show. Personally, I have not been impressed with Bigtown or Mesquite. The last time I was at the Will Rogers show in Ft.Worth, it seemed that there were as many non-gun related tables as gun related ones. I prefer the Dallas Market Hall shows over any that I have been to, but I digress.

Simple answer to your question, Ft. Worth. :tiphat:

Market Hall. Sep 26 & 27. Big Town's ok but if you're making a drive, make it Market Hall.

Market Hall is the biggest, Fort Worth next and Big Town last. Parking is best at Big Town, Market Hall second, and Fort Worth is terrible.

Agree with the above....

Ft. Worth and Market Hall are biggest.
Big Town smaller.
Mesquite Rodeo the smallest.

The abbreviated DFW schedule upcoming (all are Sat and Sun, I've just listed Sat)....

Sept
12-Big Town
19-Ft. Worth
26-Market Hall

Oct
3-Big Town
10-Ft. Worth
24-Mesquite Rodeo
31-Ft. Worth

Nov
7-Big Town
28-Market Hall

All are interesting and fun IMHO. However, I see you live in Kingsland. Austin or San Antonio would be closer for you.

Some additional comments, after some additional thoughts.....

The Dallas Market Hall gun show is sponsored by the Dallas Arms Collectors Association. So naturally you will see more collector type guns, and other shooting related and militaria collectibles, than at the Round-Up Inn gun show in Fort Worth.

Fort Worth on the other hand, is more hunting oriented, IMO. You'll see more hunting related stuff there, all the way up to deer blinds and stands, deer feed, calls, scents and bird decoys, bird calls, etc.

But you'll see a mix at both shows. One show doesn't have exclusive rights over the other on the above mentioned. What ever trips your trigger, will be found at both shows. :thumbs2:

Has anyone seen a colt mustang at d/fw shows and around about price? Haven't been to one in a few years.

I've never sold a gun in my life so I was just wondering, how would I go about doing this? Could I take my gun to the Market Hall during the gun show and sell it there? I want to sell my HK USP 45 (full size) so that I could purchase a small conceal carry firearm, some ammo, and accessories. I would like to make sure I sell it properly with proper documentation and within the law so any information would be great. Sorry if this has been discussed before. If it has, please direct me to that topic. :tiphat:

The DACA Market Hall Gun Show has less non-gun related items. The Market Hall Show is also expanding
(this weekend). Another area of Market Hall is opening up with additional tables. I believe 2,000.

No paperwork is required. Just exchange gun for money. Some people like to see a CHL so they know they are dealing with a good guy, but it's not required by law. If you have no reason to suspect someone is up to no good, you're safe to sell.

Have you tried selling here on the forum?

I didn't know if I was allowed to so I didn't even bother. :confused5 I guess I would rather sell to someone on this board, since most of the members have their CHL a.k.a. "good guy/gal card". :txflag:

Edit: Is is bad that I ask how I would go about trying to sell here? I'll look around on the forum in the meantime... :???:

You have enough posts to legitimately sell a gun on the board. Here's a link to the firearms market section. http://www.texasshooting.com/TexasCHL_F ... m.php?f=20" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
