Prices and availability being what they are I am loath to change ammo. The Lawman shoot accuratly, and feed 100%. And I still have a case+ on hand.

Suggestions?

Keep it. Carry it. Don't worry about it. Shoot it when you have to.oneshooter wrote:Suggestions?

Several years ago I happened on a estate sale and got a very good price on several (3)cases of Speer Lawman 200gr JHP (AKA "Flying Ashtrays). Recently I have been told that the ammo is obsolete and I should change to "more modern" SD ammo.![]()

Even if i didn't trust it to fire, I'd try to work out a load that's as near identical as possible, pull the bullets, pop the primers, and refit with new powder and primers. They're good bullets.KC5AV wrote:As long as you are confident that it will go bang when you need it to, I wouldn't worry.
isn't that what they use to kill werewolves ?oneshooter wrote: He would really flip if he knew I, on occassion, carry a Colt SAA 4 3/4"in 45LC loaded with Silvertips.
Can you still get BlackTalons? Someone told me that they were outlawed. Any truth to that?pedalman wrote:I still have some 45ACP Black Talons. I ran some of them recently through my 1911A1, with no problems. I doubt they could be considered obsolete.
They were never outlawed, they just got lot of bad press. There was a civil suit against Olin (Winchester) that was filed by a murder victim's family, where Black Talons had been used, but the suit was dismissed. Winchester pulled the Black Talons in 1993 from public sale, but you can legally own them and buy them if you find any on a shelf somewhere. The current Winchester Ranger SXT ammo is the 'Same 'Xact Thing' without the black Lubalox coating on the bullet.YabuUS wrote:Can you still get BlackTalons? Someone told me that they were outlawed. Back in the day Black Talon was hyped as being "instantly lethal" "will turn a person into hamburger" so on and so on. In truth they were no better than any of the other offerings available at the time and not as good as some (Hydra Shock.)pedalman wrote:I still have some 45ACP Black Talons.
