Wouldn't spatter be desirable from a visceral point-of-view?USA1 wrote:Just make sure you're wearing protective eye wear . The spatter may be undesirable .Purplehood wrote: What can be more up-close and personal than pointing a .40 cal pistol at the offending Zombie forehead and blowing it away?

Now that there is funny, I don't care who you are!Purplehood wrote:TAM, I would have to vehemently disagree.
The whole point of Zombie-killing is experiencing the joy of killing Zombies. What can be more up-close and personal than pointing a .40 cal pistol at the offending Zombie forehead and blowing it away? No long-range sniper-kills for this maniac.
BTW, my response above alarms me.

I believe the preferred musical instrument of choice is a piano. It got Zombie kill of the week at least.

Re: Weapon of choice for a zombie apocalypse
Just stumbled across this thread. FWIW, my primary Zombie gun is a DS Arms, SA58 Carbine...A modern copy of the FN-FAL. This has been my goto gun for nearly a decade. Hide behind a brick wall if you want, I'll eat your lunch after a couple rounds. Hide behind a car too...Just be sure to find a spot behind the engine or an axle because I can shoot through just about any other part ot it. And while there is no magic bullet, if I rattle off seven or eight 7.62NATO rounds into some dork's chest and head in under a second without at least hitting the snooze button on his clock, I'm leaving. I don't have to be the fastest guy to escape the zombies so long as I'm not the slowest.
When you take the time out of your day to beat someone, it has a much longer lasting effect on their demeanor than simply shooting or tazing them.

Re: Weapon of choice for a zombie apocalypse
AR-15. The key to surviving a zombie onslaught is to find high ground in an open area, with clear fields of fire (and preferably some lighting for night work), and then maintain stand-off distance. The problem with shotguns, golf clubs, etc., is their short effective range. Zombies kill by overwhelming the living in mass attacks, or by cornering their victims in farm houses, shopping centers, etc. The AR will keep em at a distance, has enough firepower to engage dozens of targets with minimal reloading, and the ammo is light and easily transportable. With the appropriate sights, an AR also makes a fine CQB choice. For the "28 days Later" type of Rage-virus-carrying zombie, stand off distance is all the more important. They're agile, sentient, fast-moving, and work in teams. While my Benelli M4 with EoTech Holosight is a great last ditch choice, I'd prefer to have my Rock River M4.

I just added a new gun to the collection this week. I feel safe from zombies now.
