To Quote Wikipedia:
In the mid-2000s, Holiday Inn Express began producing humorous television commercials featuring "average Joes" performing extraordinary activities that only experts would know. The concept attributes these exaggerated abilities to the fact that they "stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night". The campaign reflects the brand's slogan "Stay Smart" which is still in use today.
Apparently if you stay in one, you can do ANYTHING the next day AWESOMELY.

More detail from a USA Today Article
...But Holiday Inn Express' "Stay Smart" ads have been a free media dream. The tagline has gotten so much buzz that it has "crossed over" into pop culture, on late-night talk shows, in political cartoons, on the street and even in commercial airline cockpits. It was even repeated by Al Gore in his campaign (though he apparently has never actually stayed at a Holiday Inn Express)...

The campaign shows brilliant feats regular folks can achieve after staying at a Holiday Inn Express. In one, an ordinary guy helps avert a nuclear disaster. In another, an Express guest studies the habits of the great white shark. A group of musicians don Kiss-wear and belt out a performance that earns them a record deal. When it is pointed out that they aren't really smart scientists or rock stars, they reply, "No, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express."

TAM,

My casual conversation reference was mostly tongue in cheek, mostly... As you can see I think INAL is one very over used ferslugenah (see Mad magazine circa 1950) and I say that in the kindest way.

Rocky Road is superior to mere chocolate as it not only contains chocolate, but has nuts and some kinda gooey stuff like marshmallow in it too.

I love it!

Now, what was it that Shakespeare said about lawyers?

Ah, until you need one...

If a person is a lawyer, why would they post this disclaimer?
Am I the only one who finds this unnecessary?

The content on JimAdler.com should NOT be taken as a substitute for advice by a competent attorney or medical professional. Use of this website or submission of an online form does NOT constitute the forming of an attorney-client relationship. Accordingly, no attorney/client relationship is formed until you are contacted by an attorney from Jim S. Adler & Associates and you sign a client agreement.

Opinions?
Yes, I believe that is true. Of course, that is only my opinion and not advice.

Even if you are a Lawyer you more than likely dont want to go around online shouting it.
Even Lawyers dont like to give out advice without a bunch of case study first.

Because reading their website does not create a client relationship, and if they didn't have the disclaimer some  would probably sue for malpractice. If you're puzzled by his disclaimer, you really don't want to see the boilerplate my employer tags onto outbound email.

I think alot of people just do it to be humorus.

I don't want to be a lawyer.
There's already one on the family.

:iagree:
Same here. IANAL is nothing compared to "Any opinions in this message are my own and do not necessarily represent the opinion of my employer."
At least the wording is customizable in my firm.

If at the end of what one posts - one regurgitates a bit of a television ad that millions have seen and claim it's humor as if it were their own - that's not only exhibits a woeful lack of originality, it's pitiable.

Of course, many seem to think it original to offer up such gems as "If I told you I'd have to kill you" or "Tell us how you really feel" or "That's gonna leave a mark" without the slightest bit of embarrassment. In person, these same folks generally make extravagant gestures to go along with their sludgy witticisms.

I guess if one hasn't an original thought to offer - riding the coat tails of others is the next logical step.

Is doing this sort of thing really humorous or revealing?

Unintentional irony is often humorous. And revealing.

I think anyone in their right mind would know not to take anything that they read off of some internet forum as legal advice unless perhaps it is from a lawyers forum, and even then it should be taken only as advice. Come on, are you guys serious with this? I am not a psychiatrist but................

Yes, very serious, sad but true, it happens every minute of every day. Look at such sources as Snopes.com to see the kinds of things people believe without questioning. I won't comment on the political dialogue....
:mad5

We are in a time when a large portion of society look for quick fixes and quick answers, and latch onto most anything they are told as the truth. It goes along, IMHO, with a very tragic diminishing of personal responsibility and thoughtfulness over the years. Sorry to sound too pessimistic, but we live in a very troublesome time due to such things.
:grumble

Whoa - a serious post! Guys and gals, help me get out of this!!
