Double Tap .45ACP ammo

#1

Post by 7075-T7 »

Got a chance to try out their 185gr Nosler HP (rated for 1225fps & 616 ft-lb) out of the kimber this weekend. All I gotta say is these loads are HOT, non +p rated bot they're really moving, and accurate to boot. These are going into carry rotation. Highly recommended.

I Agree though I carry the 185 gr bonded core (gold dots). These are very hot loads I can tell the difference by the sound and recoil verses 200 gr gold dot +p's. :fire

I wonder if they're harder on alloy framed guns, they're not +P, but the extra energy has got to go somewhere.

I use DT ammo exclusively in my 10mm guns but found that in a 3" barrel 45ACP that it resulted in a lot of muzzle flash.

4" has a decent flash too, but it's a dim yellow, so I'm not to worried about it.

Is that ammo cheap or expensive? Do they offer range ammo also?

I am curious. What is the significance of the color of the muzzle flash? :headscratch

It's all about night vision impairment.

White-blue - significant night vision reduction (like a flashbulb my aguilla .380 HP ammo is blue-white, crazy stuff)
White - large NV reduction
Bright yellow - etc.
Dim-yellow...
Bright- Orange...
Dim-orange...
Bright-red...
Dim-red...
none...

Oh... cool... I did not know that. Thanks for the information! :tiphat: Maybe high night vision reduction can help you. Just close your eyes when you shoot and it will blind the bad guy. Then you can run away while he tries to see again.
