I was very intent on buying one of these pistols...and still might...

I have talked to Taurus directly two times...once they said 'summer' and once they said 'the second half of the year'...

That being said, I did a lot of research and went and handled and picked up the slim 9mm (same size as the .40) and compared it to a PT 140.

I am now an owner of a PT140.

The weight difference is marginal. In fact the PT140 is lighter of course without rounds in it...

The thickness difference of the guns is not that much different.

The only major difference was the grip on the slim is shorter which makes concealment very easy. That being said, the PT140 is very easy to conceal too. I tried both of them.

Plus with the PT140 you have a proven platform AND 10+1.

If the selling prices of PT709 Slim's (7 + 1 in 9MM) and
PT111's (12 + 1 in 9MM) were proportional, it would be easier to
decide which to buy.

But since they price them pretty close together, anyone
considering those 2 models should go with the PT111.
Getting 5 extra rounds w/o a reload is money well spent.

Sure, the Slim is slimmer, but the downside is 5 fewer
chances to stop a threat or threats.

Same thing with the PT140 vs. the PT740.

I actually measured and I compared spec sheet data between the two guns. (slim vs pt)... the slim is approximately .95 inches thick on the slide and the PT is approximately 1.125. The slim is slimmer by a mere .175 of one inch. To me it was so minor it didnt even matter.

What makes the slim more concealable is the thickness yes, but also the configuration of the handle. The handle is shorter and the whole package seems to taper down from the slide to the butt.

There simply ain't no question it is a very concealable gun. The trade offs are though a lot less rounds...also concealability depends on so much as far as I have been able to determine. Everything from a person's build to the way they dress matters.

I opted for more rounds...but like I said, when it comes out I may fork out the dough for a 740 too.

I have a PT745.
It shoots nice, feeds on anything I put in it.
I would suspect the 740 would be the same.
Not over priced, sounds like a future addition to the stable.
