Re: Colt defender
I just spotted one for around $899. It was 9MM and looked to be a real nice gun.Fire1141 wrote:Guys

Re: Colt defender
I have no idea of the real world value of one of those's.
But I found one for sale in the DFW area. This is dated in April, but should give you some idea of pricing....maybe the guy still has it!

Re: Colt defender
That's getting close to Kimber territory!
Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes... (Jefferson quoting Beccaria)
... tyrants accomplish their purposes ...by disarming the people, and making it an offense to keep arms. - Supreme Court Justice Joseph Story, 1840
Re: Colt defender
I know someone with Colts and Kimbers and he prefers the Colts, I think I would too. I have read about just as many problems with Kimbers.
Re: Colt defender
Even if everything else is equal I would take the Colt Defender because it's a Colt. Nothing else will hold its value like a Colt.

Re: Colt defender
Thanks all. Now just have to talk her into the 900, hmm. Anyone have suggestions on that?
Re: Colt defender
Cash talks. In my experience, prices (on many things, not just guns) are more negotiable with cash in hand.Fire1141 wrote:Thanks all. Now just have to talk her into the 900, hmm. Anyone have suggestions on that?
Probably due to two factors...
1. The buyer knows you are serious and not just a "tire kicker". (Not implying you're a tire kicker, I've ticked off enough people today )
2. Due to costs hidden from the consumer, credit always costs the seller more than a cash transaction.

If you must tell her, do it in a public place.

Re: Colt defender
I gave 785 for mine 2 years ago.
Buds in KY has the last price listed at 859.00 (free shipping to boot)
I have both a Colt and a Kimber in a 3" compact 45.
I like the Colt Defender best.
It runs smooth as silk, is easy to carry (ISOB) and eats the XTP hollow points I feed it with absolute dependability.
I have run thousands of rounds through mine, and it just keeps getting better.

When they first appeared on the tables at the Houston shows, they were $720.
