Tauras PT 24/7 Pro, any experience?

You'll get differing opinions on the Taurus pistols. Some love them, some hate them. My best advice is to compare it with others (at the range). Try a Glock and then the Taurus. You'll see which is better.

Personally, I can't stand the trigger on their Poly pistols. I've had the PT109 and PT145 and hated both of them solely because of the trigger. I've got the PT101 (Beretta 96 Clone) and love it. But it's heavy for CC (IMO of course). Great hunting sidearm.

I have 2. A 24/7 Pro C and a 24/7 Pro DS, both 9mm. Both are reliable and accurate.

I own a 24/7 pro DS .40.

Great gun but the trigger has to take some getting used to. Now I actually like the trigger a lot.

I have put probably 1000 rounds through mine and not a hitch. Taurus is just like any other gun (or any other thing period) that you plan to use for a long time.

You have to do your routine maintenance and take care of the gun and it will last forever. I have not had so much as one problem with mine.

When I went shopping for pistols I went completely open minded. I went to the gun shop and held at least 100 different pistols that met my requirements. In the end I left with a Taurus. It felt extremely comfortable in my hand as well. It was more comfortable than all others for my hand size and shape.

If I were you I would start with say, figure out which caliber you want. Then figure out what the purpose of the gun will be (IE carry or range or whatever). Do you want a revolver or a semi...

After that then look for guns that meet your criteria. What feels good to me doesn't feel good to someone else. There is nothing wrong with Taurus though despite what some people may say.

Each gun make is unique so what works on one will not work on others. Some guns you put grease on, others you can put motor oil on, some you don't put anything but light oil...Guns are not one size fits all and neither is the care for the guns.

As for me, my 24/7 Pro DS, I love it. I haven't had anything but a good experience with it.

For me, I wasn't a know it all when I purchased the gun. I asked what is proper for my choice and have gotten good reliable expert advice and have lived within that. As a result the gun has been extremely reliable.

I have the 24/7 pro ds 9mm and I have only put about 500 rounds through it. but I have never had any FTF or FTE from it. I like this gun better than all my others, but it is a little too large for a CCW for me, so it is reserved for nightstand duty. it is well suited for this with its hi capacity mag and a rail to mount the streamlight on.

My wife selected a Taurus PT24/7 Pro C DS in stainless steel for purse carry. It is striker fired with a manual safety / decocker. Double strike capability is a definite plus. Loaded chamber (visual and tactile) and striker cocked (visual only) indicators are nice. Capacity is 13 or 17 round 9mm and the grip is fairly full even with the 13-round mags. The grip is also a rubberized material which is very comfortable and probably absorbs some recoil. It has the Taurus locking system if you need that and the resting place on the frame to keep your finger off the trigger until you need to use the gun.

She has several hundred rounds through it mostly reloads, but some 124+P personal defense rounds as well without a hiccup. We have been very impressed with this $329 pistol and would not hesitate to recommend.

I am not crazy about pulling the trigger to disassemble (same as most other striker fired pistols). I do not use this pistol because the manual of arms is very different from our HKs. (You cannot rack the slide with the safety on, the safe position and decock action are both upwards motions from the fire position which means that the pistol goes to safe when decocked). Also, I shoot lefty and the PT24/7 Pro C is not ambi except that the mag release can be switched, but the safety / decocker is righty only as far as I know. Since I mostly shoot the HKs, the Taurus trigger feels great, although nowhere as good as the Kahr MK9.

I thought that too...at first. With time and practice...say 2 boxes of shells and the thing becomes pure butter.

My wife bought her very first pistol (without any prodding from me) at a gunshow a few years ago, she picked up the PT24/7 in 9mm for about $357 and change...I thought it was an outstanding deal...17 rounds that sucker can hold...

I got to shoot one magazine through it before she told me to give it back...I've never been allowed to shoot it again...

What I remember is how well it felt in the hand, it shot very nice, smooth...Popping orange sized groups at 15 yards...Good enough for me...
