Another one to add to my "Why I don't shop at WalMart" crimes!

I have been shopping at Sam Walton's stores since Sam was waiting on customers himself.
I have never seen anyone mugged, robbed, beat on, molested, raped or even purse snatched.
Yes, I stay aware of my surrounding. Yes, I will act if I need to, thank God I have never needed to.

I have seen several shoplifting incidents, but at major "upscale" department and specialty stores, not at Walmart.
It's OK to shop there. Your risks are no greater there than anywhere else.

Rob Pincus defines combat accuracy as "any shot that significantly affects the target's ability to present a lethal threat." I'd say that by that definition, the lady's shots were combat accurate.

In "Shooting in Realistic Environments," IIRC, he even specifies that a miss may be combat accurate if it causes the attacker to flee.

Several armed robberies over Christmas holidays. Daytime armed robbery a couple of weeks ago. Until I started hearing these reports, I would have thought it was a very safe place.

A couple of weeks listening to a scanner will really open your eyes as to how many crimes you never hear about by any other means.

I once kept a list of what was going on over a weekend; leaving out the speeding tickets, barking dogs, etc, and only counting actual property damage, theft or bodily injury offenses, it was still more than you'd find reported in the newspaper over 2-3 months. (Of course, the paper's jail log only lists actual arrests, so most criminal mischief, theft, and minor assaults with no arrests made don't get coverage unless the victim is important enough.)
