Please reccomend a .22 pistol

I was hoping that some of you knowledgeable folks would recommend a .22 for me. I want to buy a .22 pistol that is fun to use, not very expensive, and easy to clean. The reason, mostly, is that it is difficult to locate ammo for my 9mm or .45 cal. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help.

I had wanted a Ruger for the longest time, but would never spend the $380 on myself. Well for our anniversary this year, my wife bought me a Beretta NEOS U22 from Gander Mountian. It as $230 on sale, I think $250 regularly. Here is a picture:

I LOVE THIS GUN! I find it shoots better than the Ruger, plus it has a rail along the top. I have put a cheap True Glo red dot sight on mine. It shoots tight groupings and it attracts a lot of attention at the range due to it's looks. It is a .22, so there are some FTF, but I have had very few issues. It came with 2 magazines. Trust me, you will not regret buying this gun.

Ruger 22/45!

This model has a grip angle/grip feel that most closely resembles most single stack larger caliber handguns..... particularly 1911 grip style. The Rugers generally shoot poa/poi right out of the box, are generally extremely reliable, very durable, and easy to care for (don't let the whiners talk you into believing they are difficult to strip for cleaning). The 22/45 in basic black is affordable, and will last a lifetime of heavy use.

If you have a Glock you could try an Advantage Arms conversion kit. I have 2 one for a G19 and one for my G30.

Of course the price you pay for them you could almost buy a .22 for, but with a AA conversion you are still using the frame and so the 'feel' is still the same. ( a lot less weight and recoil though)

I had one of those. It was a good gun.

I traded it (with some cash) for a Browning Buckmark (also a very good gun, but more expensive).

You could also look into a 22 conversion for your 45. Mine is a Ceiner and works great and has the same feel as the 45. I think it cost around $200.?

ruger MKII , MKI, or 22/45

I have a MKII 5 1/2" bull barrel w/target sights Works just fine , nice shooting too.

Another vote for a Buckmark. I like them better than anything else on the market currently.

I love my Walther P22, but I would recommend the 3.5" barrel. The 5" is a pain to take apart to clean.

I had a Buckmark and it was accurate, easy to shoot and reliable, but it just wasn't me. It just didn't scratch the itch for me because it didn't feel like a personal defense weapon; it felt more like a clunky long distance hole puncher. I also wanted something that could be a back-up carry weapon, but the autos like the P22 and Mosquito, from what I've read, require gourmet gun chow and I wanted something that would eat bricks of cheap Federal. Sooo-I ended up with a Taurus 2" model 94 revolver and I've never regretted it. It looks and feels just like the 38 except instead of 5 big holes in the cylinder, it's got 9 itty bitty holes.

I've put at least 4 bricks through it (2200 rounds) and it's been awesome; I even pocket carry it because I can. I highly recommend this little J.

I don't know about .45 cal, but you can buy 50 rounds of 115 Gr FMJ Federal for $9.47 plus tax at Wally World. I just bought 300 rounds this morning, and they tell me they no longer have a limit of 300.

I feed my P22 the Federal 550 round bricks and have never had any problems.
