"New Coke" LOL. That kind of reminds me of clear crystal Pepsi back in the early 90's.

I always thought of the HK USP variant 9/10 as the closest to a Glock-1911 merger, at least of anything currently available. You could have the cocked and locked, single action pull every time, along with the polymer frame and generally comparable Glock capacity.

Although to me, it's an entirely different feel and doesn't really equate to either a Glock or 1911. It would be nice to have the best of both worlds.

What happens when you leave a Teenage Glock alone in a room with a Teenage 1911? You get an XD...

I know I posted an "I agree" about this earlier, but I realized that you couldn't have picked a more perfect example of the merger between a Glock and a 1911. It goes beyond functionality as well -- a USP also costs just as much as a Glock AND a 1911 "rlol"

Yeah, I've always liked the USPs. But what I want is basically a 1911 with the light weight and durability/reliability of a Glock. Want same grip angle, pointability etc of a 1911 - which USP doesn't have (not saying USP is bad - just not same as 1911).

Of course, I'd settle for any truly thin single-stack Glock - G36 doesn't count as it's a 6+1 .45 that is same basic size as my 13+1 G23 .40-cal.

Seems to me one of the biggest stumbling blocks with Glocks' blockiness is the polymer mags. Use thin steel or aluminum mags like every other gun maker and you shave a significant portion of the width needed in the overall gun .... the XD proves this theory with its own metal mags.

Give me a Glock the size of a Walther PPS in 9mm and the size/dimensions of a 4-inch Commander size 1911 in .45 ....

In "The Gun Digest Book of Combat Handgunnery" (6th ed), Massad Ayoob says (last paragraph on the left of page 196) "I once told William McMoore, designer of a fascinating work in progress called the Sceptre pistol that blends elements of the Glock and the 1911...". I'm about to unplug my computer so the lightning doesn't kill it, but maybe one of you can demonstrate your googlefu while I run errands and wait for the storm to pass.
